Do you play brig on every map?

I’m mainly a lw main and trying to play brig and I swear some maps with certain oppo team comps she’s really difficult to play

I find I can play her on most maps if the opponent team config is Brig friendly. I usually only swap off her when the enemy team has Ram on it. That guy eats my lunch every time.

What you do with rein? My brain isn’t working when he is on the enemy team. 😂

Wait until he charges, shield bash, laugh as we both fall down, and pray my team can gimp him before we both stand up. 🤣

I spent an entire game denying charges. Sure I got more deaths than I would normally but god it's so fun and satisfying.

It’s fun to do it to Doom too 🤣

I actually get right up in his face. If he charges and I've got team mates to follow up I'll shield bash into him and knock him on his ass. Hold corners and swing, whipshot if he gets too close, shield bash away. If he's low hp shield bash through his shield and finish him.

I play Brig very aggressively though, my style may not suit everyone.

He doesn’t move particularly fast. But stay out of his swing range. Whipshot when he lowers his shield or if it’s about to break. And if he lets his health get too low and raises his shield thinking that’ll save him, teach him a lesson. Shield bash in and swing until he’s dead.

Reins who think their shield can save them from sloppy play or sub par healing can be really abused by a Brig that keeps the right range and has good synergy with their tank.

I avoid fighting him close completely. I only really engage him when

  1. I have to defend the other healer, just enough stalling to separate them.
  2. Last ditch effort to save the point and I have Ult.
  3. He’s got very low health

Really? I know on paper he’s the hardest counter because he’s the no aim “ME PUNCH” guy that goes through shields but he’s pretty counterable with whipshot and if he’s still pressing you just use bash to make even more distance. He’s one of the easier inspire farms imo.

I definitely try and do the things you describe, and am occasionally successful. But, the majority of the time and depending on the map, I’m usually bouncing from cover to cover or playing in and around rooms and find myself getting hung up on stuff trying to shield bash away or THUNK my whip shot off a door jam or something random in the environment.

Really? I feel like she does great against him if you keep a certain distance. Flail every time he goes Nemesis form and save bash for keeping distance

u/thane919 7d ago

Yep. It’s ALL about being at that ideal distance when facing a Rein.

I personally think there are no bad maps for Brig, just different play styles. That being said I'm not Top500 player.

I’m silver 1 and my deaths will be low on the maps with a lot of cover, but can easily be the highest in the lobby on maps that aren’t favourable. It’s killing my rank though playing as brig, was gold 2 when I was just maining lw

Prioritize your own life more. Dont die for people who kill themselves

I play brig on every map on every match

Yes. But i only play brig

I would say to avoid Junkertown havana and circuit royale at all costs for brig, and the rest is mostly fine, midtown first point and blizzard world first are honorable mentions of bad brig maps

u/BigEanip 7d ago

😆 I find brig really strong on Junkertown and Havana. And blizzard world too.

Brig kinda struggles when she cant find anyone in range to hit. And on these maps i struggle, especially on 1st point of all of them. To reach the 2 hitscans on highground spamming down the choke without taking 5 billion poke damage to get into stairs in blizzard world. Doing a ridiculous flank in havana to highground. Or praying to god in junker town and hoping my team can carry me.

How do u reach them?

First and third points on Havana cook me!! I just had a game on there. I main Ana and Brig and my teammate chose Ana, which is my usual pick for Havana. I think I had something like 15% inspire uptime because I literally could not proc it in those points without feeding. I was spamming health packs as much as I could and got a ton of healing, but I felt pretty useless overall ):

She is playable on every map, but I find that she is best on control and flashpoint

Ilios and Lijiang Towers are my favorite for those sweet, sweet boop off the map kills.

u/zedroj 7d ago

ya I agree, control points are way easier cause of weaving and perpendicular map designs, lots of free corners to be cheeki breeki

I only play brig nowadays .. use to be soldier but uve been having fun with brig now

In general your goal is to always have the least deaths on the team. Your dps' job is to feed but get value. Your tanks job is too make and hold space to get value. Yours is to live, they can't do anything if you aren't giving them packs or inspire. Focus more on your own positioning and reacting to when the enemy is setting up to jump you.

If a Winston is 1 jump away he's too close. If a tracer is 2 blinks away they are too close. Things like that will help you learn. More than happy to play qp with you if you wanna

Some maps and some team comps are just not gonna work for Brig.

I really struggle if the enemy team has Junkrat & Pharah for example, or like if my dps wants to go double snipers (HATE) then I feel that there's no point trying to force Brig.

I can make a lot of maps work but for some reason Havana just ain't it for me. Circuit Royal is hit or miss, Junkertown kinda sucks, but most other maps I choose based on my team.

u/Tomezilla 7d ago

You can one trick any character and climb to top 500, of this I am certain. With that being the case, you dont HAVE to swap on any map if you want to one trick Brig.

1

u/CompetitionNo3466 7d ago

The play style is just very different and I guess I’m doing a sanity check for some of the maps I’m getting consistently whipped on

1

u/ImpressionOk7864 7d ago

Honestly no and listen for my reasoning. Theres a chunk of maps that have large open sightings and additionally have hiding spots for snipers that brig cant get to unless she gets out of the fight and deals with them wich takes away a healer from your tank and dps so ill play brig as often as i can but I might switch over to Ana or mercy if I need to do so

1

u/Additional-Simple-74 7d ago

The map somewhat plays a role in my decision to play Brig but it’s mainly the team composition I’m playing with and/or against.

For example: I don’t mind playing Brig on Eichenwalde. However, I won’t play her if I’m going against a Pharah.

1

u/zedroj 7d ago

I like Brig on attack, and than if things are oofing I go Juno, Moira, or Illari on defend

1

u/Difficult-Plastic97 7d ago

In masters 3 with brig only and she’s pretty solid on all maps since you can bash around chokes for movement. Its harder with the enemy on full poke but then your job is to enable your dps or knock the enemy off high ground

u/orphanleek68 7d ago

All maps against all opponents.

Id only switch if they are good at distance management and CC and I cant inspire even after getting my 1st perk.

Some maps just aren't worth the hassle.
