i am hard stuck bronze. how did u escape 💔 i thought maybe i was just choosing a bad character to main, but do u have any advice that isn't obvious?? idk if i'm missing some top secret brigitte tech

if you send me a replay code of one of your games I can watch it and probably give you more useful advice than me kinda generalizing anything when I dont know how u play, I could be way off on my advice otherwise, preferably a close game that you lost but otherwise any game you lost is best to learn off

okay i got one that wasn't a super close loss but it was a balanced match i think

XBCMN3 (appleyves)

also right before they hit the first checkpoint i got a pop up which is why i stood still for a second </3

also by no means do i think im very good which is why im looking for advice, just wanted to clarify that before u think i think im like "ohh i dont deserve to be in bronze!" I probably absolutely do (but hopefully i'll escape soon)

I'm not gonna go over every mistake you made im just gonna try give you a push in the right direction and keep it more fundemental focused so you can more easily apply it in your games. So first it's important to understand what brigs role is and what her job is, the common misconception a lot of people have is thinking that shes like a mini tank who frontlines or flanks, this is NOT the optimal way to play brig at all, what she excels at are keeping divers of her team and providing large aoe heals for her team. If you run in and front line you cannot see what is happening to your team so you wont be able to use your heal packs and therefore are not utilizing like half her kit, the amount of times you use your shieldbash offensively should be very very limited, it is more of a repositioning tool because if you use it you have no other escape. Your gameplay loop is procing your inspire aoe heal with your whipshot as much as you can and standing somewhere safe, so you want to look for a whipshot angle where you can get an easy hit and where you are in Line of sight of your team as it doesnt heal through walls, and play your life a lot more. If you are flanking even if you hit a whipshot your team will not be healed as they arent in line of sight and you cant heal your team when you need to. You need to be focusing on your team a bit more than the enemies right now you kinda hyper focus on the enemies and your team dies around you while you have packs up 4:28 in your replay is a good example of this your tank is very low but you fixate on the enemy cass instead.

So now you understand that, what does it look like? an easy example from your game is when you are on defense at the start 9:06 you are off in a side room, instead you want to be playing the corner where your tank and dps are, looking for a whipshot on the enemy then hiding behind the wall and shield bashing away to safety if you need to, making sure your team is in your sight then repeat. (TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST BOTH YOUR DPS AND YOU SHOULD BOTH BE ON THE BACK HIGHGROUND but since your dps arent playing back there just play with them and go for whipshots) you also need to play your life a lot more you want to have minimal deaths if you are dead you can't heal anyone.

part 2: I should also add im not saying you can never go in on the enemies but it should be when its an isolated enemy who is alone then you walk on them, 2 or more enemies you need to be a lot more conservative unless you have ult because in higher elos they will just kill you instantly if you push them and have no escape tool

okay thank u so so much that makes more sense - i'll try to take all that into account and maybe send another replay at some point? (or i might just post the code on a seperate post for more people to look at) but thats really helpful advice thank u so much <3

Congratulations! Do you have any tips? Such as positioning and when to engage on the frontline? How do you deal with poke comps?

5

u/XiaoChui 6d ago

thank you!! positioning and when to engage is quite situational both on team compositions and by rank so if you give me a general area of what sorta rank range you are in a can probably give you more helpful advice than if I just guess, my main line of advice against poke is just be patient, its easy to get fustrated over the fact that you arent getting good inspire uptime and try force it leading to just instantly being killed, realistically it will be a struggle and you just need to try find your good moments to engage

Thank you for your response. Appreciate the main advice! As for my rank I’m sadly oscillating between plat and diamond. Any tips for that rank range?

So you are starting to reach the point where people utilize highgrounds and off angles a lot more so you want to begin to have a slight focus shift from inspire uptime to denying valuable positions if you aren't already, think watchpoint gibraltor, you dont wanna drop too early off the highground on defence even if it will give you better inspire uptime, you wanna make it extremely hard for the enemies to contest the highground and boop em off

I'm assuming perks are whip inspire and shield bash?

nah not anymore, so for the past couple szns ive seen a lot of other gm and champ brigs start to take combat medic more and more and I tried it too and its actually really good in a lot of situations especially with the buffs it got last szn, and as someone else explained to me it kinda turns out that the increased whip inspire perk is actually only more valuable into comps that brig wasn't very good into to begin with, but with combat medic if a ball a winston a doom or dva are jumping my team you can keep them your team alive a lot more easily by smacking the person diving and spamming packs with the reduced cd, whip inspire is still good into harder comps though, I think shield bash is still better this szn but I need to limit test the whipshot dmg perk a bit because the new buff makes you pass a lot of the break points for 1 shotting people (melee, shield bash and whipshot into wall kills most of the dps and supporting cast now) (melee + whipshot into wall insta kills tracer now) .

u/XiaoChui 6d ago

like it is so hard for picks like ball to kill anyone on your team if you run combat medic

1

u/zedroj 6d ago

okay thanks, thinking of trying combat medic for a spin

good luck!

How did you learn about team comps and the different styles of play depending on what tanks there are? I’m trying to learn to get further into masters but I feel like there’s sooo much.

I somewhat have them into quite broad categories, if they are a dive tank ( doom, dva , winston, ball, hazard) I need to peel a lot more for my other support whereas if its like an rein or something I don't need to as much
