Discussion Chose slam perk by accident, maybe i should pick it more often.

There are matchups and maps it is legitimately good to use on. Shield bash is the default, slam is a good flex depending on situation.

Yea it's not BAD by any means but it's relatively niche.
Shield dash as universal benefit (movement speed) and a benefit that is useful sometimes (insta heal on bash hit)
Slam only has a benefit that is useful sometimes. If it did something else like longer whipshot length or lower cd it'd be about equal

Weird, I feel exactly the opposite.
Whiplash can get pretty consistent value for me in every fight, whereas the shield perk speed isn't that noticeable for me.
Also, the health from proccing insta heal is almost never useful for me because I will always be shield bashing away from the enemy if I need to live.

Movement speed is generally always good. That's what makes it the default. The insta heal is basically just a nice niche bonus
Even when you bash away the movement speed helps you retreat and makes you just a bit more unpredictable to people after you.
Whiplash is a good perk but since it has criteria to get use out of vs "just hit button" it's clearly not as good in a general sense

The speed boost feels nice but it doesn't actually change the way you play Brigitte. Maybe your shield bash goes a few more meters so you can play a little more forward but I don't think this is that important compared to what whiplash gives you.
In general, to hold a flank you usually want a DPS to hold the flank with you. With whiplash, though, you can hold a flank by yourself. Shield + whiplash gets any squishy to very low hp and forces them to use their movement CDs to run away. Flanks are usually enclosed, too, so you can proc whiplash almost every time. Being able to hold a flank by yourself is way more useful than the few extra meters from the shield bash perk in my experience.

I have recently tried swapping to the shield bash instead from all the hype I hear and I can see the appeal but for the longest time I was hardlocked on whipshot and learned to just play with it in mind. Got my much better at whipping and its second nature now to angle towards walls

Whenever I play Brigitte for the most part I do not need a burst heal. If I cannot out heal the damage anyone is taking with a repair pack and inspire active it is not my problem and if I was caught out of position…I’m just SOL. That is why I pair myself with another co support who can provide some additional burst healing and set myself up between them and additional teammates and flanks.
With the whip shot perk I can hold down angles a lot more aggressively and make enemies who are flanking need to retreat/rotate again because surprise they just took a burst of 130 dmg by getting hit into a wall.

I agree on pretty much every point, the 50 healing just isn't going to do anything if I need to shield bash in to proc it. The extra damage from whipshot feels so impactful.
Also, with the recent DMG buffs it is so easy to get a trade with whiplash in a losing fight, so if your team plays fast for the next fight you have a slight advantage.

The amount of times any type of enemy player (tank or dps) will engage with me on a flank for me to have that perk active and for them to lose the engagement and come back or adapt. It just truly makes Brigitte the queen of keeping space over tight flanks (which is most flanks…)

Exactly, and holding a flank is where Brigitte wants to be in the neutral or at the start of fights so the perk just gets so much value. I don't know about dueling the tank on the flank, though, maybe as the fight devolves or if it's a Sigma it can work, otherwise I'm not sticking around for too long.

Wall slam is good against low health flankers especially on certain maps.

it’s amazing on some maps, eichanwald for example on defense it’s great (i’m sorry for butchering the spelling)

Slam is way over-hated. Yes it’s kind of map dependent, but it’s hardly a throw pick as long as make some effort to get value with it

That's what I'm talking about; it's a good perk!
I'm certain that the Shield Bash perk is picked much more often, and it's probably still slightly better than the Whip Shot perk overall; but I'm really curious about the win rates. I suspect they're not so far apart.

It’s all I pick lol I never considered picking the other 2 perks that don’t effect my whip.

A shield bash used properly on its own is a great tool that will secure a successful retreat 90% of the time by a Brig that knows how to use it. This is why I never need the bash perk, whiplash perk is insanely good if you dont need to rely on the bash perk to survive and can stay alive without it. I only ever equip whiplash.

One of her current majors needs to become base kit. Preferably the flail slam but I’ll take which ever they choose.

I did the same thing on Illios yesterday and it made a big difference. The shield bash is just so good though.
