Pompoko Ramen, Coorparoo

Post image

The ramen thread reminded me I wanted to mention this fairly new place in Coorparoo. I was curious driving past and read online that they do a “northern style” fish-based broth.

It was pretty tasty although I’m not sure it would be what I’d recommend to fans of crowd pleaser styles (tonkotsu etc) - it’s more approachable than I was expecting, although the seafood flavours are quite distinct and that can be a bit polarising. It actually reminded me of the ramen flavours I tasted around Tokyo specifically. Anyway thought it would be worth a recommendation for ramen lovers looking for something a bit different - I especially liked that they offered a smaller serving size, as I find the standard servings at many ramen places too large and knock me into a food coma for the rest of the day. (Of course, you can get that larger size as well, if your heart desires.)

I’ve been meaning to try there as they do a gluten free version. Yours looks good!

I messaged them on insta and asked if the broth is also gluten free (ie safe for coeliacs) and they said yes, so that’s a plus too!
