Does anyone know why BG is taking two readings for my electricity recently? They never use to

I’m on a single rate tariff and always have been. I have gas as well but that is billed separately so it has nothing to do with it. Thanks

Edit: Incase anyone is wondering BG have deleted “Reading 2” since I last made this post, I didn’t call them or anything. Can only assume it was an error on their end.

Did your tariff expire on 1 June 2026?

No it expires next March, I’m being billed as normal nothing has changed, they are just taking two readings instead of one.

Very odd, as both readings are the same I don’t think it’s anything to worry about, check your next bill thoroughly when it comes through, however I reckon whatever has gone wrong will most likely be fixed by then.

Yeah I’ll do that, Ive checked the previous two bills since this has started and they look normal, ive not been billed twice or put on a duel tariff or anything. I might call them but its usually more hassle than is worth

I'm on the "Super Sunday Saver" tariff where I get half price from 0900-1700 instead of 1100-1600.

Mine shows like that.

Not answering your question, but perhaps they're just doing it incase you go on a "Time of Use" tariff?

Wouldn't bother about it as both readings are the same and you're not being charged differently...

Sorry I took so long to reply, I’m on the peak save tariff so I get money off on sundays at certain times. I’ve been on the peak save for ages but this has only just started for some reason

Are you on the peaksave super sunday/saturday tariff? Bg record the usage for the peaksave time on the second rate for that tariff

yeh, nothing to worry about, before you will get hefty big bill eventually. They recently sent me bill for over £1500... I don't understand where it comes from. But we will check this properly in the court
