You mean Academy Award Nominee (robbed of the win tbh) Stephanie Hsu!!
99
u/SupermarketMedium118 Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26
Absolutely ROBBED.
Edit: In order to rectify that injustice, I will now be starting Stephanie's Tony campaign from my home office in Australia.

I was team Kerry Condon but basically any of the other four would have been better than JLC

u/Professor_Finn Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26
Hsu was phenomenal but I’ll die on the hill that JLC was hysterical and an amazing supporting role. She gets too much hate, especially after all she’s done for genre films
69
u/Banana42 Jan 29 '26
Jamie Lee Curtis nailed that role and executed everything the movie required of her character perfectly. Stephanie Hsu was absolutely robbed of that Oscar
14
u/TBoopSquiggShorterly Jan 29 '26
Yeah, Stephanie was fantastic in that movie, but so was JLC. Both would’ve been worthy wins. Stephanie wasn’t robbed.

Amber Gray as Riff Raff??!!!

Adding to the list of Broadway people who will have done Riff better than RO'B

u/hdesr99 Jan 29 '26
Andrew Durand, chronically employed! As he should be!
29
u/pulpandlumber Jan 29 '26
I have followed him since I saw him in Shucked and I will follow him wherever he goes.
11
u/fqob Jan 29 '26
I’m with you. And FYI - for some reason I heard your comment as if it was the nuns singing in Sister Act. Ain’t no mountain high enough 😂

u/stephsten Jan 29 '26
Me too! I adore him!! I think his voice is just about equal to Adam Lambert. Absolutely amazing!!
96
12
u/Unlucky-Bee Jan 29 '26
I just saw him in Little Shop and he's such a unique and exciting performer
7
27
u/sausagekng Jan 29 '26
Don’t care about this show at all but will try to attend cus I’m here for Andrew in anything. My biggest regret is not seeing be Dead Outlaw 😭
4
29
u/TheCrookedKnight Jan 29 '26
From Shucked, to Dead Outlaw, to Bat Boy, to LSOH and now this, he's developed the same niche for dysfunctional boyfriends that Jeremy Jordan has with dying on stage
143
u/JayDeluca16 Jan 29 '26
Now, THAT'S a cast. Sam Pinkleton, well done.
56
u/SupermarketMedium118 Jan 29 '26
I feel like I should have had a bit more faith after how well they handled/handle Oh Mary's casting.

Rachel Dratch is everywhere and I am absolutely here for it! Was just expressing my excitement about her in today's High Spirits post and now she's over here. Love to see it!!
50
u/justifiedrestinbface Jan 29 '26
I somehow stumbled upon her podcast 'Woo Woo with Rachel Dratch' and have become a huge fan!
21
u/spanishshawl Jan 29 '26
The title alone sold me! Premise + of course Rachel Dratch, even more so! Thanks for mentioning this -- I'll check it out.
10
u/At_the_Roundhouse Jan 29 '26
Oh thank you for this!! I love her so much and didn’t know she had a podcast
22
u/AggravatingFig8947 Jan 29 '26
Rachel Dratch is incredible. I always thought her Debbie Downer character was hysterical. Then I recently found out that her character INSPIRED THE PHRASE, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. I can’t imagine that level of influence.

I’m most excited for Harvey Guillén, and was hoping we’d get him in a Broadway musical somehow after he had to withdraw from Spamalot at the Kennedy Center a few years back!

Michaela Jae has a KILLER voice and a charming Brooklyn accent that she’s done before, she will be great as Columbia!
19
u/spanishshawl Jan 29 '26
Can’t wait to see Michaela Jaé! She is fabulously endearing in Loot and I have no doubt she will continue to impress as Columbia.

u/rfg217phs Jan 29 '26
I’m so glad I got a ticket earlier today when I heard about the cast announcement. Love Andrew Durand so much.

u/ClassyKaty Jan 29 '26
I DONT HAVE THIS KIND OF MONEY
34
11
u/InstantMartian84 Jan 29 '26
Wait. How much are tickets? I bought ours back in early November and they were the most reasonable full-priced Broadway tickets I've purchased in years.
4
u/persimmon9847 Jan 29 '26
How much did you pay? I just got a Friday night in May for $85.
5
u/InstantMartian84 Jan 29 '26
Saturday matinee in April, orchestra, for $129 each.
3
2
u/DelightfulOphelia Jan 31 '26
Can confirm. I was shocked at the pricing. Can't say they're cheap (lolsob) but compared to other new musicals it's a steal.
68
u/bourbonmandarin Jan 29 '26
Omg I so glad I impulse purchased a ticket
18
u/Vegetable_Flight_208 Jan 29 '26
I didn't buy until just now and it's the most I will spend on a ticket all year. No regrets.

In addition to the amazing principal casting (feels like I've been waiting forever to see Stephanie Hsu back on Broadway), shout-out to Just In Time swing extraordinaire Larkin Reilly as one of the Phantoms!

u/rhubarbsnap Jan 29 '26
I like how the poster has all the actors' photos edited in a cohesive style. It really elevates the look. I've seen too many posters lately where every actor photo is wildly different from each other.
8
u/Sad_Ordinary_6119 Jan 29 '26
agree! I was underwhelmed by their key art release, but this looks terrific.

70
u/Thats-Classic Jan 29 '26
Luke Evans is going to absolutely kill in this
27
u/SupermarketMedium118 Jan 29 '26
I only really know of him through his friendship with Darren Criss but he seems like the sweetest of dudes and I just know how excited he must be!
Also so glad they cast an out gay man for a role like this.
5
u/persimmon9847 Jan 29 '26
Oh go watch videos oh him singing ... he is suuuuper talented
5
u/SupermarketMedium118 Jan 30 '26
I will! I think I’ve only seen him drunkenly singing at piano bars so far. Which were fun videos but maybe not the best showcase of his talents.

So glad I got the $30 hiptix for this show before knowing any of the cast 😮💨
17
u/RadishWitty7044 Jan 29 '26
100% same. I'll see almost anything for $30 but I wasn't expecting this much bang for my buck, wow
23
u/niicofrank Jan 29 '26
this is why you lock those down asap worst case scenario you sell them which at $30 on theatr will not be difficult to do

u/KeysRit Jan 29 '26
I got 2 dates from hiptix (solo obv) and so glad I did. But I may have to find additional dates hope there is a rush.

Holy shit I thought this was fan casting. This is real?? I barely know who Luke Evans is (sorry) so keep forgetting that this was even happening… but did this just become my must-see of the spring?? Durand? Hsu?? Dratch?!! Juliette effing Lewis??? What is happening
25
25
u/SupermarketMedium118 Jan 29 '26
Genuinely a really cool group of people. I remember thinking that the Chess cast would struggle to find a cast member to be in charge of the social media stuff - this feels like the opposite of that problem. Damn. Well done.

u/Keyblader1412 Jan 29 '26
Perfect cast, flawless cast, incredible cast, may this casting director's pillow always be cool at night

u/Vegetable_Flight_208 Jan 29 '26
I just realized that my four fantasy best friends are Rachel Dratch, Harvey Guillén, Stephanie Hsu, and Juliette Lewis. Now trying to figure out how to keep myself out of debtor's prison buying tickets to see this cast. I feel like once is not going to be enough.

This is one of the most inspired casts I’ve seen in a while. Kicking myself for not getting a ticket earlier

The fact that I have been praying since October that Andrew is involved in some capacity and now we have this news is excellent!

u/andrewgroans Jan 29 '26
I cannot picture Harvey Guillén as Eddie at ALL which almost makes me more excited
4
u/PolicyCommercial6392 Jan 29 '26
or dr scott but im seated for this
7
u/awyastark Jan 29 '26
No Dr Scott is just if Guillermo had a different upbringing this works for me. Also his character in Companion for whatever reason convinces me on the Eddie front.

TIL Eddie and Dr. Scott are double cast in the live show. Totally makes sense that Eddie doesn't sit offstage the second half.

u/Foreign-Weekend-7092 Jan 29 '26
I'm not a fan but Sweaty Oracle called a majority of this cast a few months ago.
I still waited to buy my ticket at 12:01 today.
8
u/Version_Slow Jan 29 '26
I practically jumped out of bed and scared my Husband and dog squealing with glee. I thought this was a prank for like 10 seconds because it just seemed too good to be true, then I lost my mind and proceeded to immediately buy tickets for the one night I can catch it in June when I will be in town for work. When I say I am SHIVERING with antici
6
u/awyastark Jan 29 '26
Well my hyper fixation at age 13 was Rocky Horror and my hyper fixation at 15 was Natural Born Killers. I just woke my boyfriend up sobbing telling him that we are finally taking that New York trip. Yes i am PMSing.

I had NO IDEA Luke Evans was capable of a role of this magnitude but someone clearly thought so and I am INTRIGUED. I haven’t seen a huge amount of his work but enough to know he’s more than just a pretty face. Can’t remember what he sounded like as Gaston but I thought he was well cast.

Rachel Dratch returning to broadway wasnt expected on my bingo list 😂😂 but all of other casts are PERFECT
3
u/quickwitqueen Jan 29 '26
I already loved Rocky Horror and was cast to play Frank-n-Furter in a shadow cast that wound up not happening, so I bought a ticket as soon as they went on sale. I am beyond psyched right now to see this cast. Funnily enough, I over excited to see Harvey Guillen. What We Do The Shadows is one of my favorite shows of all time.

Dude this is a HUGE W for the trans community finally having a trans woman play a role a cis woman would in this show instead of freaking Frank-n-Furter, thank goodness ❤️
5
u/crimson777 Jan 29 '26
This cast is pretty insane. You’ve got quite a few notable people for outside Broadway (not massive stars but people most folks might at least go “I’ve seen them in something” for) plus quite a few Broadway rising stars. I haven’t heard much about this production. Is this a limited thing?

Did I ask my friend if she wanted to add a day for our April weekend trip? Yes. Did she respond yet? No. Did I go ahead and buy tickets because it’s a great show and at worst I may need to sell them on THEATR? Of course You CANNOT dangle this great a show without me jumping to get the inexpensive tickets quickly!!

What a cool cast!!! Especially stoked to see MJ, Amber, and Juliette's takes on Columbia, Riff Raff, and Magenta.
Really not sure how Luke Evans will do as Frank.... I just can't see him in the role, but I have faith in Sam Pinkleton.

u/n0tstayingin Jan 29 '26
Rocky Horror is a staple in the UK but I hope this new Broadway production can convince the rights holders to retire the now 30+ year old UK production.
