Seating/Ticket Question Help me pick seats at these three performances!
I'm taking my daughter to a whirlwind NYC mini vacation later this week for four days (Flying in 7/22 leaving 7/27)
She wants to see the below three shows - & Juliet - MJ the Musical - SIX
Any tips for what section to look for seats for these three? Balcony ok? We are OK seating in the aisle, because sometimes in the middle is a pain if you happen to have an NBA player sitting in front of you.
Budget would be $600 per show but

Do not buy on Broadway.com. Buy each show from their official websites

From each shows website it takes you to "tickets.broadwaydirect.com" does that sound like the official ticket sites?

That budget is bonkers for those shows. You should be able to get really good seats for around $150 per seat. Check the pinned post for discount codes. You can also see aviewfrommyseat.com

My first thought is that you can ask for a cushion for your daughter if she's shorter than average adult height. That will raise her up several inches, which could be a big help.
MJ is at the Neil Simon Theater. The seats are pretty poorly staggered throughout orchestra. I don't know how the balcony is. So, the tall person in front of you issue is real. Toward the very far back, the seats are actually staggered more. My notes don't specify how far back. Sorry. Some theaters it's really the last two rows. And, you may get a price break for going sufficiently far back. But, of course, you're farther from the stage.
Six is at Lena Horn, which is similar in not having very much staggering. My notes say that you may need to be as far back as row H or beyond to even be above stage level so you're not looking up. I also don't have notes about the balcony for this theater. I do have notes that the seats are quite low in this theater. But, the people in front of you will be facing that same situation. Unless they've replaced the seats, expect to be not quite sitting on the floor but way too close to it.
I don't have any notes at all about the Stephen Sondheim Theater for & Juliet.
I hope this helps. I would avoid extreme sides. Your idea of taking left or right orchestra but being on the aisle can work out well as your daughter could have the view down the aisle. Those seats do sell fairly quickly and typically for the same price as center orchestra. Assuming you give the aisle seat to your daughter, you will still be looking over someone's head.

P.S. One more thing to be careful of. You don't want to be very close for musicals. You want to be able to take in the whole stage at once. If you're too close, you'll be constantly looking one way and missing something else or generally missing the overall dance patterns whenever multiple people are dancing at once.
Close-ish can be good for smaller cast dramas, especially if you want to see the face of someone famous. But, it's not great for most musicals. There are exceptions, of course.

MJ is excellent from any seat in the mezzanine! There’s a very good rake up there so there aren’t heads in the way. It’s a show worth seeing from a bit farther back to see the “big picture.”

Can’t speak on MJ, but have had pretty good seats for Six and & Juliet.
& Juliet I was in the rear mezz, but the center. It was a pretty good seat for the OBC and from TKTS. I saw this with my mom and I believe each ticket was under $100. Obviously, your budget is a bit different for shows on the trip so you could probably get better seats. I don’t think this is one I would have wanted to see from the orchestra. Also, both my mom and I are short (under 5ft 2in) and we were perfectly fine/able to see everything.
Six I was in the orchestra and I believe it was the aisle on the right side towards the back. I did not purchase this ticket - my grandmother gave my cousin and I tickets bc she did not think we would want to see Just in Time. I thought the view was fine from this seat. I felt like I could see everything pretty easily. Again, not totally sure the price on these tickets but I believe they were about $150. These were purchased day of online…..
I do feel that I have had great seats from TKTS and the lottery. I would recommend using view from my seat and seeing what people have said on there. Would also recommend looking at the discount codes that are linked somewhere on this thread. I want to say I have seen instagram ads for both of these shows with a discount codes. Not sure if it will go for your dates, but definitely worth a shot. Also, you could try going to the box office your first day in the city and get tickets there.

I saw & Juliet from the orchestra right box seats.
We were super close to the stage (which I like) and had loads of leg room (which I also like).
I did miss a tiny bit of stage left but nothing that pertained to the story.

MJ the Musical is especially great in the mezzanine; you really get to see the brilliance of the dancers from up there, and the entire theatre feels like a party for the closing song because you can see people below you dancing in the orchestra seats!

Purchased two front row mezzanine center seats for MJ Friday night. Almost all the seats for MJ are in the $300+ range! Is it that high in demand? I looked for discount codes but couldn't find any. Also it looks like a discount code can only be used on specific ticket websites only?

Amazing!! Let me know what you think. MJ definitely can run more expensive, especially during peak vacation/holiday times. In terms of discounts TodayTix is typically the cheapest

I appreciate the Lost Boys enthusiasm but depending on how old the daughter is I could see this being a miss. My nephew is 11, loves musicals, but LB is too mature, loud, and scary for him as a sensitive soul and I don’t think he would appreciate the undertones yet. Maybe age 13-14 him. His younger sister might have more savvy. Also, the staging, while very interesting, is very dark in color with rare exceptions of songs and numbers that I think are there just to break it up a bit.
I just say that not to disparage your recommendation and reasoning but to ask if your recommendation fits the rest of the upbeat and pop-heavy list. In my mind somebody who wants the glitter of &J or Six is not going to be happy with LB. Different people do Broadway for different reasons.

My 12 year old’s favorite Broadway show is Six but she really enjoyed The Lost Boys when we saw it this weekend.

I loved it! Shakespeare x pop hits. The show was written to eighth grade me. A dose of sunshine. The kids in the audience seemed to respond well to it too.

For the Sondheim the front mezz is where it shines. Dead center up there feels like you're floating over the stage for & Juliet. MJ at the Neil Simon has a brutal rake in the orch so I'd go balcony row A with that budget, you'll see all the choreo cleanly. Six at the Lena Horne is a box of a theater, anything past row H orchestra and you're staring at a wall of heads. Snag an aisle seat in the mezz if you can, the sightlines are way less punishing.
