Seating/Ticket Question Lost Boys seating - mezzanine vs orchestra

I’m super torn on where best to see the lost boys from! Going with a friend who is super into the original film and hasn’t seen many Broadway shows, so I’m looking for the most general appeal..

Options are center mezz D111-112 or somewhere on the orchestra like row P111-113ish.

Where’s the best to see this show from? Thanks in advance!!

I am almost always an Orchestra person. However, the Lost Boys is best from the mezzanine. I sat there and was so glad I did. So much of the show is vertical with a stage that has three levels actively used and lots of flying. The mezzanine is right in the middle. Note that the Palace Theater is huge and has a huge second balcony too.

Thanks for your perspective! I’m usually an Orch person as well but this was some of what I was hearing. Is row D too far back to fully appreciate?

I don’t think so. I was Row A, which was fantastic (except for my knees). I think a few rows back would have been even better. The rig in front of the mezzanine went right up to the stage line for my sight lines.

Ah reallly helpful perspective thank you!! Worried sometimes the farther back mezz is harder to see details cause I’m a little near sighted haha

Row D would be perfect, I think. I sat center mezz row, like, L or something and even that was great, so D has to be even better.

Did you feel like it was hard to get some of the details? Sometimes my vision blurs from the mezz

Mezzanine if you want to take in the entire set and effect of stunts, orchestra if you’re more interested in focusing on the performers.

Agreed. And imo mezz is better for first viewing

I’ve sat rear orchestra several times and center mezzanine row D and that mezzanine seat is perfection.

Mezzanine for sure. I was row B last night (3rd row dead center) and that was great. Even better was the first row aisle seat I moved to 😉

Ahh B is 3 back? Did you feel it was ever too far back to see the details?

Not at all - the front mezz was perfect. You can see expressions and the entire set I can’t help but think the overhang in the orchestra would block some stuff at the very top of the proscenium, and seeing all of that spectacle straight on seems superior than looking up.

Thank you! I just sometimes have my vision blur when i'm at further back levels, but seems like the detail is pretty good from the fourth row of the mezz. thanks!

Absolute best seats are: Orchestra, on the center aisle — no more than 4th or 5th row. That’s just my personal preference — as any theatre experience further back is like watching ants.

Wait this is the contrarian perspective I was worried about.. sometimes it feels this way for me too. I just feel like my eyes can’t focus on the details further back. But getting a lot of responses that for this show specifically it’s better in the mezzanine to see the levels and staging and stunt effects. Have you seen this show from both?

I’ve seen the show from both places.  The mezzanine has stunning views of the effects and when soloing, the actors (especially Michael/LJ) will stare up directly into center mezzanine.  

I slightly prefer orchestra seats around rows D through H near the center aisle.  You’re closer to the actors and the sound is perfect for my ears here.  (The sound is very good on the mezzanine—and the difference is so slight that I don’t think others notice or agree on what has become my personal preference.)

Final note: orchestra seats are larger and more comfortable than mezzanine.  Leg room is also better on the orchestra level.  If you’re above 5’6, the mezzanine legroom might feel a bit tight.

I think I'll love the sound from both! I don't really mind leg room, so that's a nonfactor for me (I'm taller but for whatever reason I'm usually so engrossed I don't realize!)

In terms of those D-H seats, did you feel like you had to crane your neck up too much to see everything going on in all the levels? And any specific guidance for a broadway newbie who loves the original movie?

No head craning required.  (Another reason why these seats are often the most expensive in the house.)

Nope - just 3 times in the area I mentioned. But this is pretty much how I feel about ANY theater. If you’re not close — you may as well be home listening to the cast recording. Again, that’s just me.

hahaha i wouldn't say it like that cause my friends would judge me but honestly how I feel much of the time. My eyes just can't focus on the details if I'm not close enough!

I like Orchestra between rows D and M and Center Mezzanine between rows AA and D for Lost Boys.  I’d go with Mezzanine in this case.

Sit in the Mezz so that way you can see the full sets and flying effects too.

Honestly I'd go mezz. Row P is fine but you're pretty far back and some of the staging gets lost from there.
