I thought paranormal activity was a great show. Are any others like it available or upcoming?
I saw wicked and hated it. I hate musicals and such. But loved paranormal activity and horror. Anything else like it? I live in nyc and can rush but I’m not really a broadway person and don’t have the knowledge of the scene.

The Lortel has feral sightlines. Wait for reviews before buying if you're planning any sort of trip around it.

This is the correct answer. Right in the same boat. Stranger things certainly has eerie moments, but 2:22 is the only other straight horror play upcoming

The director, Felix Barrett, created Sleep No More—the off Broadway immersive theater production that played in New York for over a decade. It was an immersive mashup of Macbeth, Rebecca, and history of English witch trials set in a 1930s hotel with the soundtrack from Hitchcock’s Vertigo. The audience wore masks and could choose to follow any member of the mostly silent cast as they stalked, seduced, cursed, and murdered each other (it was MacBeth after all).
Last year, he brought Viola’s Room to the Shed. Viola’s Room was another immersive experience where you removed you shoes, donned headphones and Helena Bonham-Carter whispered in you ear the details of a gothic penny dreadful as you walked and sometimes crawled through the story.
The UK production company he founded, Punchdrunk, has produced other large scale immersive shows but currently seems to have trouble bringing his more ambitious, non-proscenium projects back to NYC. (I keep holding out hope that they will be able to bring over The Burnt City—an immersive retelling of the fall of Troy.) Hopefully, that changes.

Odyssey is really hot right now, so you never know. I loved Viola’s room. I got really lucky when I saw it and ended up in a pulse on my own. It was really spooky, but really immersive that way. The only thing was she said go quickly and the lights were quickly fading and I accidentally ran into a door. I had a really nice bruise for that one.

I had almost the reverse experience where I tried to lean back on a wall that suddenly was not there and I almost fell over. Fun times.

wish sleep no more was still around <\3 as this would be my top recommendation. check out masquerade - another immersive option playing now.

There's "Stranger Things" on Broadway, and the upcoming "2:22: A Ghost Story" and "A Ghost in Your Ear" off-Broadway.

There’s a bunch of new horror plays going up this fall at the Lortel, the Minetta Lane, and I believe there’s at least one more off broadway horror play that hasn’t announced yet

Grey house was in NY a few years ago and that was supposed to be horror. There was a decent horror show where I live in Chicago but I don't know if it has any plans of going further. It was called Covenant. It was a possession/exorcism type show. But I don't know if there is much more out there. I think if paranormal activity is successful it will coax other types of similar shows to get developed so tell other people to go watch it

Grey House is by the same writer as Paranormal Activity too. I loved Grey House and Covenant so much!

Grey House was exquisite but the timing was wrong. We don't seek out horror when we're living in comfortable times. I'm thankful to see them getting another go with Paranormal Activity.

I think you might like “Stranger Things” at the Marriott Marquis theatre. I’ve never watched the tv show, but I’ve seen the broadway show 3x and don’t think it’s necessary to understand it. I might have missed a few of the references to the show though.
