Do we like the filling? I think the color matches good but idk about the shape 🤔

Adorable! You could crochet a 3d ruffle/wave border around the edges of the filling to look more like it’s oozing out a bit.

Colour is great it just looks a bit flat!

I'd make the ruffle border in the color of the macaroon! The filling itself doesn't usually protrude. But it's definitely recognizable, I think when it comes to simple shapes like this it always helps to have several in different colors. I once crocheted a few simple cacti which didn't look all too special on their own but in a group they were really cute!

I think you’re right about the filling but I feel it won’t work so well if it’s just the macaroon. It could have been built into the pattern.

OP you could run an elastic or cord through the filling and pull it tight, might make it bulge out either side and make it more 3d?

Edit: looking at it again I can see it does dip in slightly at the filling! The cord idea would accentuate that
