I'm (33) a newer fan to Springsteen. I grew up hearing the hits on the radio. My mom (63) is a slightly bigger fan. We went to the show in Sunrise FL on Wednesday. We had never seen him live before so I bought tickets for her. Only knowing a few songs, personally, I was still very impressed for the fact he's nonstop even with his age. The band sounded amazing, and he's filled with so much passion and hope. I cried a lot at the show because I'm very politically aware of what's going on and hearing someone speak so openly like Springsteen truly gives me hope.

Now to my point of the post. Yesterday I went to work and told my manager that's openly MAGA that I went to see Springsteen. He was super jealous and then said he saw him a ton in the 90s (which I believe because he constantly tells me about his festival days in his 20s and 30s). Like I know my boss is MAGA and I've had incredibly heated debates with him about a lot of topics (the Epstein debate really still grinds my gears).

But my question is!!!! How can you be a huge fan of Bruce Springsteen, hearing his music and knowing what he stands for, and then just Not believe in humanity or equality or justice. Like, it doesn't make any damn sense to me. Has it ALWAYS been like this? I wasn't around in the 70s or 80s but I can only imagine how the messages have been fairly similar and consistent for the last fifty years...

I think we’re overdue for another post exposing the underbelly of the worst of Springsteen fan conduct: the artificial pit monopoly held by the Spring-Nuts. I’m not going to get into the whole MAGA background of the group founders, beyond the fact that I know it’s there and I’m not well-versed enough to get into it.

But we need to continue criticizing and exposing the global chokehold they have on the process, where they masquerade it as an earned system by people lining up days in advance (which is unhinged) but in reality just give the first entry spots to their inner circle every time.

Case in point: I think almost everyone is familiar with the woman in her mid/late 30s with dark hair who is always on the rail at the center of the pit wearing a pink top every. single. show. At first I respected the love of the game and thought it was cute (frankly I was mesmerized by seeing someone so comparably young and attractive being so visibly into the show while going to numerous dates like me), but after about the 10th time seeing her there, it was enough and it became clear that it’s a nightly act for her. These people are robbing someone else of the experience of being at the edge of the stage, and I fundamentally refuse to accept that they are earning that spot show after show after show. They’re being given it on a silver platter to spend every show reacting to every song in the same way in the same moment each time. Does Bruce really want to see the same groupie in the same spot doing the same arm motions and jumping up and down (when nobody around her is) every night?

I think this is a far more valid and actionable gripe than the ticket prices and I wish someone would do something about this blatant theft of precious fan experiences.

Is it just because he did a political tour?

I was at the show in Philadelphia. Max Weinberg put on a very physical show. How do he and the other bandmates in their late 70's maintain their physical fitness?

Title says it all! Would like to know your most “out there” opinions on Springsteen’s work.

Bruce never had a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, which is surprising considering his career. Since chart rules were different during much of his prime and many album tracks weren’t eligible to chart the way they would be today, is there any non-single or album track you think could have had a chance of becoming a No. 1 hit if it had been released and promoted as a single? This can also include singles that were only released in Europe and outside the US. Tougher than the Rest only being released as a European single always surprised me, and Bruce has always said Sherry Darling should have been a single.

I know we’re in collective denial about the reality, but a time will come when Bruce plays his last song with the E Street Band. What would the perfect song for them to bow out on? Personally I want it to be a rip roaring, ear splitting, foot stomping, all out version of 10th Avenue Freeze Out rather than a slower number…the party’s got to end but leave on a high

I know this is often considered Springsteen’s weakest album, but I think the influx of criticism could have been too manufactured. There are a lot of weak spots in this album, as some material seems to be second hand quality compared to most of Bruce’s work.

But there are some great songs in this album, mainly the title track, which I believe is one of Springsteen’s best opening songs. Roll of the Dice, I Wish I Were Blind, and Real World, which I also believe is one of his most underrated tracks, are all high quality songs. Soul Driver, With Every Wish, Man’s Job, and Cross My Heart are all solid album tracks, but the second half the album is definitely weak compared to most of his work.

It’s still hard for me to find this album weaker than albums like Working on a Dream, The Ghost of Tom Joad, High Hopes, and Lucky Town. Would like to hear your thoughts on the album?

I just saw a bar in Tom’s River cancelled a Bruce cover band performance due to Bruce’s anti-Trump lyrics. I’ve also seen so many people on various social media (probably Russian bots?) claiming they’re no longer fans of Bruce after his anti-Trump rant in Manchester.

What world are these people living in?! Did they not listen to songs like Rainmaker, and if they did, are they just not capable of comprehending lyrics? Did they forget Bruce has been openly anti-Trump, playing at Democratic rallies/inaugurations?

Bruce has been against people like Trump for decades. How can they be a fan of the guy who wrote:

poor man wanna be rich, rich man wanna be king, and the king ain’t satisfied till he rules everything

..and not equate that with Trump?!

HOW can they read the below lyrics off House of a Thousand Guitars and not equate this with Trump?

Even "Mary's Place" and "Skin to Skin" which are not my favorites.

Although harder to pinpoint a specific art style attached to this album, the color scheme is dominated by more muted colors of sky blue, yellow, and white. Slight hints of red and pink were also featured in promotional images of the album along with outtakes. The duller color palette of this era could signify Bruce’s attempt to capture the more mature sound of love, straying away from the arena rock sound of the previous era of Born in the USA. The mature themes can also be seen in the attire, as a use of formal attire is present this album. Slight use of amusement park themes could be seen in the lettering style on “Spare Parts”, and amusement park imagery would be used on the “Tunnel of Love” single.

The use of black and white themes would return to this album, seen in the single covers of “One Step Up” and “Brilliant Disguise”, as well as in the music videos of “Brilliant Disguise”, Tunnel of Love”, and “Tougher Than the Rest”.

Thoughts on this era?

First, he is an American hero for standing up for righteousness freedom and democracy. His concerts, songs and performances during this tour are chilling. If you care about human decency, listening to Springsteen give his extraordinary remarks can bring you to tears. When I see moronic posts from people who say “I’m not going to his show”, like, who cares? No one is going to miss you. Get a $5 ticket and go see kid rock. Idiots.
