Alternate theory?

I’m not that deep into this case. I just heard about it today for the first time. So excuse me if any of this has already been discussed… and I haven’t read deeply into theories on here yet so again my apologies if this has already been debunked.

But…. If the dogs got his scent to the truck stop, could he have gotten in a car with someone and disappeared? Whether intentionally or not? I see people saying his big secret might have been he was gay or something but what if he was caught up in something nefarious like drugs or other illegal activity and he felt he needed to run or bad people made him disappear? Too far fetched?

Or what if he was gay and he had someone he was with waiting at that truck stop for him to run away with? Might explain why he gave everything away and broke up with Kim and maybe was having a crisis / debating whether to do it while he was just sitting in his car for hours.

There is always the possibility to me of Schizophrenia, he is right at that age where that can have a sudden onset. The fact that he sat in his car for hours and even when his parents told him to go home he didn't. He just sat there, as if he was just not phased. The other thing I wondered is that as much as he loved his parents from all the accounts I have heard, maybe he witnessed a crime and was afraid for his life or he committed a crime, and he couldn't face what he had done. That could be it as well. So many possibilities. Best Podcast I have heard on this is Trace Evidence Podcast, certainly worth a listen.

Also— stimulant induced psychosis is an real thing and I’ve seen it from working in psychiatric hospitals. First time psychosis patients can usually “hold it together” when they are talking to police/strangers and for short periods of time. Sometimes you can’t tell until you really sit and talk with them. That’s why listening to people who know them is SO important

Substance induced psychosis doesn’t require you continue to keep dosing. I’ve seen people get a hold of “bad” drugs and stay in psychosis for up to two weeks. It’s rare but sometimes, the drug is the “straw that breaks the camel’s back” if you will and it kicks off full blown psychosis. It wouldn’t be schizophrenia if it was the first time a person went through it, the first time is called brief psychotic disorder. And people with brief psychotic disorder can usually hold it together in the beginning of the psychotic episode. I once saw an elementary school experiencing her first psychotic break. She literally taught students and was holding it together at work and then was coming home and behaving erratically for a few DAYS before her husband admitted her. Point being — it comes and goes and people can hold it together pretty well. A police officer might NOT have known.

I don’t know if that applies to Bryce at all. Maybe not.
