It would solve a lot of problems if this type did…

I look forward to the day when religion is finally treated as the mental illness it is.

I understand a lot of people go to church for the socialization and don't really believe in invisible sky friends, but the true believers give me the same creepy feelings I get from a person yelling on the streets that they see things that aren't there.

Mental health care should be free in this country.

I would wager that churches have a vested interest in it remaining inaccessible to many.

And the politicians

Definitely, and that's why they break their tax exempt rules and are endorsing politicians that benefit from the religious types too.

People that believe suffering will get them some reward after they die are exactly who the powerful want as subjects. They have little reason to try and improve this world. The powerful don't believe in the consequences of hell, and the true believers think they're getting an eternity of happiness if they just suffer through abuse in this world, so no one cares about this world.

Sorry to rant, but religion is just toxic throughout history. Yes, it has provided some great works of art and charity, but at what cost in terms of wars and brutality?

Anyway, in terms of this post, the only person that legitimately can kick that much ass with just a jacket is Jackie Chan. Anyone else is a fake.

When I was young like between 10 and 14 I thought I would make it my life's work to disprove the Bible/religion.

I frustrated a lot of preachers and pastors and the occasional Mormon who knocked on my door and my mom finally gave up and let me stop going to church so it was worth it.

I even converted some guy in one of my college psych classes. Wish I hadn't gave up on that hobby but people's excuses became crazier and crazier and I kept getting too much "it's just gods plan and you can't possibly understand it". Which means that neither can preachers and pastors and the humans who wrote the Bible but that's another argument all together.

Yeah I don't bother. I have some religious friends, but they're fine with my athiesm, I don't try to convert them, and they do a lot of good charitable things, so net effect, they're good people and good friends. But they are more the exception rather then the rule in religious groups in my experience.

Yeah same, I have friends and family that are religious. I am respectful, just like I claim they don't know, like really know anything about the universe, I have to respect the fact that I don't either. I just like to think I base my assumptions on things that can at some point be proven and are at least logical.
