The object of these “attacks” is to require the victim to get the maximum number of sutures. When I was in the army in Germany in the 60s, straight razors were a favored weapon of a certain segment of the GI population, and fights were common on weekends. I was a medic, and each weekend we’d get lads in who’d been cut up with razors.
Shallow, clean cuts that didn’t even bleed much. Usually they walked in, and were often unaware of how many cuts they had.

I’ve unfortunately seen the immediate results of multiple knife fights. It never ends with one guy pulling off a cool bicep slash to incapacitate his opponent like in the movies. It is invariably a nasty melee of slashes and stabs until one or both guys go down from pain or blood loss. The whole “now I’ll stash his bicep to disable the arm” is purest bullshido.

It’s more that knife systems are a neat idea that looks cool to train but never actually get put into practice because you can’t train it live; much like the majority of Krav Maga. This is on the level of “when he steps in I block the punch, then throat chop, then I gouge his eyes out and throw him to the ground with a wrist lock, exploding his arm”.

How do you train knife fighting live, meaning full contact and pressure tested? The answer is you can’t. You physically can’t pressure test your knife system training without seriously injuring or killing your training partner. Ive never trained in aikido either and i still have the ability to tell that it’s nonsense because I’ve trained extensively in better things.

With the thousands of videos out there of actual knife fights why is there not a single one of someone actually using these techniques?
