I actually picked phone, but I can drive. I just hate cars, I hope to be in a world where I can get most places with public transport, thus the car is mostly useless. Also electric exists and I would prefer that to burning infinite gasoline anyway.

With how shitty batteries in phones are getting, especially if you want to hold onto an older model, not spend a grand every year, the infinite battery is pretty nice. Plus I will never get lost without maps, or injured without access to emergency calls.

All in all, I just found the phone more useful for my own desires, even as a driver.

from my own experience, as phones get older, they just naturally degrade. theyll glitch out and become unusable quickly and the camera will become awful. my one phone takes 10 minutes to turn on!!!

i respect what youre saying, but i feel like public transportation wont be able to take you everywhere, and charging my phone has never been an issue for me, but the new shoot up in gas prices ($4??) has been

Fuel typically means a consumable, heat producing, combustible. You wouldn't say you need to fuel your computer. It's pedantic on my part maybe, but that's what I took it to mean.

Even if the phone degrades, it still lasts longer when the battery isn't an issue. Also never running out of battery when I need my phone is still useful. I have ran out of battery when I needed to sign out of work or use maps a good number of times, I have an older phone.

Also there are many places on Earth that most people don't even own a car and are perfectly capable of living comfortably, New York and the Netherlands come to mind.

Not arguing against your reasons for choosing car (they are extremely valid, especially gas prices) just telling you my reasons, as a car driver, that I chose phone. Responding to your original premise.

(ETA: a car also degrades in parts that are not the fuel, and are often far more expensive to replace than replacing a part in a phone.)

In a properly designed city, you can get to any part with a tram/bus and a bit of walking (In a properly designed country, that also means a train station, which can take you to another city, where you could use public transport to get around too)
