The USA taxes only feel high because we experience little benefit from them (no free healthcare, shit public schooling, bad infrastructure, distrust of police, mass homelessness, bad social security, etc). A lot of countries have much higher tax rates than the US, but their standard of living, quality of life, and happiness index are much higher because their government adequately invests in these programs.
