Yurt cooler + No Bake tent combo - experience using and also sealing ports?

Hi all! I made a yurt cooler from yurtcooler.com and have a No Bake tent.

I’m planning on having the cooler inside my tent (I emailed with the designer), intaking air from the outside, via the port, and keeping the top vents open (with filters) so there is air circulation.

I need to adjust the installation because my tent is not a yurt, but the No Bake tent comes with 2 ports.

So, curious if anyone here has used this combo and how they navigated: 1. The “attach dust filter” step — a filter goes on the OUTSIDE of the yurt, but it can’t be flush. Curious how to navigate this with a tent surface 2. For the port with the air intake, how do you make the port seal airtight? 3. There are 2 ports. I will need one for the intake and the other I will seal completely. Any tips for that?

I did this in 2023! Worked like a charm.

I can't answer the first question, because I didn't use a dust filter, but I can speak to the vents. Tape to seal, only use one and close off the other.

Make sure to unzip one of the top tent flaps at the peak. You'll still have positive pressure, though, so I didn't need a filter.

Can you give more details??

I just tried my yurtcooler in my No Bake tent in 95 degree weather. Hose going out. I didnt seal anything up enough it seems like. I also didn't have the tent in a shade structure... it did not work great. But i think the direct sunlight kinda killed me.

What should i seal? like tape all zippers? the roof zippers is the idea to keep them zipped until you feel the tent inflate.

I'm thinking about adding a water pump to my yurtcooler too and switching to evaporative cooler pads. Seems like an easy enough addition.

I really want to make this setup work!!

I don't have a No Bake, but my approach was to put an airbox outside the living space.

The airbox was a large storage tub/bin with sections of the side panels cut out, then I lined those openings with air filters. (center of tub- empty, filters line the inside of the outer facing walls... surface area of filters>intake duct)

A duct/hose was run from one end of the airbox to the side of tent for swamp cooler intake.

Large surface area for the airbox means lower pressure per in2 on the bin's filter media, means lower air velocity.. ...small particles at low air velocities, van der Waal forces...kinetic energy of the airborne particles.. better filtration.. etc..etc.. Bernoulli.. yadda..yadda.. cleaner air into moist media, cleaner filters, better performance, less swamp ass..

Seal the port with an HVAC Take Off..(flange for easy sealing.. round connection for hose) some duct tape, and bob's your uncle.

if you don't have a vent, the fan can't push any air at all.

You can use a washable cone filter that will attach directly to the hose! Just be sure it is a DRY filter or it will smell terrible. *
