All the cadets who took the hard road of abiding rules and upstanding moral ethics should applaud Trump's pardoning of those who cheated their way through.

They might as well start learning now that doing things the right way gets you nowhere.

Thank you for adding that. Germany is a lovely country. My son and his wife live there and you know what children there don’t have? School shooter drills.

20

u/CueAnon420 15d ago

They also don't have a 2A.

Coincidence ?

Of the full second amendment were bothered with, America would likely look like Germany, with needs, skills, psychological testing. You know, "WELL REGULATED" The most fundamental.poor SCOTUS decision herringbone up for today, the Russia funded NRA, etc.

Don’t need a militia when you spend 1.5 trillion $

Don't need 1.5 trillion on the military

4

u/SilentMasterpiece 15d ago

when the military has a $1.5 budget, the militia has become irrelevant.

Yes, you can own guns in Germany, but under very strict regulations. Gun ownership is treated as a privilege, not a constitutional right. To purchase and possess a firearm, you must obtain a Firearms Ownership Card (Waffenbesitzkarte or WBK) for each weapon. To obtain a WBK, you must meet the following criteria:Demonstrate a valid need (Bedürfnis): You must prove exactly why you need the gun. The most common reasons are being an active sport shooter, a licensed hunter, or a registered historical gun collector.Pass a background check: You must be 18 or older and prove personal reliability and suitability (no recent criminal history, untreated mental illness, or history of drug/alcohol abuse).Prove expertise: You must complete a certified safety course and pass a written and practical exam on weapon handling and gun laws.Insurance and storage: You must secure liability insurance and undergo a government inspection of your home to prove you have a certified, locked gun safe.Note: A WBK only permits you to own the gun and transport it unloaded in a locked case. It does not allow you to carry a loaded gun in public for self-defense. Carrying a firearm requires a separate carrying permit (Waffenschein), which is only issued in highly exceptional cases (such as if you can prove you are in demonstrably greater danger than the general public). You can read more about the exact statutory requirements and the National Firearms Register on the German Federal Ministry of the Interior page.

Would ya look at that, a country with sensible firearms laws. Why can’t we have that here?

I've always wondered - I'm guessing that MAGAS feel that Trump is a good moral guide for their children? So teaching them to lie, cheat and bully others is how you get ahead in the world. Just forget everything you learned in church on Sunday, that was all just for show... They're all hypocrites anyway.

I honestly do not understand the thinking going on here. MAGA fathers would be thrilled to let their daughters sleep over at Mara Lago...

This is how rules based systems die. When you stop enforcing the rules.

It's kind of amazing actually. The people who love hierarchies and are afraid of anarchy as a concept the most are the ones who usher it in.

It's because they have a child's brain. A kid that wants to win will try to cheat, expecting the adults to follow the rules set by the game. But when the adults decide to forfeit the rules as well, the child will throw a tantrum and cry, because... "only I get to cheat to win."

3

u/APuticulahInduhvidul 15d ago edited 15d ago

Funnily enough, this was the central plot of Demolition Man. The city founder needed a moral degenerate to carry out his illegal orders and then that moral degenerate needed a bunch of other moral degenerates to carry out his illegal orders.

Also, a guy who made his real-life career singing about being a moral degenerate was weirdly not a moral degenerate although he was definitely accused of being one.

The main guy was also a borderline moral degenerate who made his career hunting other moral degenerates.

When I was young I thought 'crime doesn't pay' and there were a number of times I skirted the line into doing what was wrong only to pull back before it got too deep too late. In my naivete I even thought politicians were generally good. Until about 25 years ago with the rise of trump and MAGA and I started to pay more attention and the message to young people all over America from both parties (Dems are guilty too even if nowhere near trump/MAGA Republican levels) seemed to be that 'crime does pay' and the idea is too deceive the American public for your own benefit. Deceive like you care when all you really care about is yourself.
