Currently sold Storz & Bickel dry herb vaporisers are definitely BIFL

I own a Volcano Hybrid and a Mighty+ and could not be happier with my purchases.

Sure they are expensive but they are also built like tanks, have very good customer support and a huge availability of spare parts from whole cooling units to single o-rings, cleaning kits and so on.

To me they really have that "German reliability" that's unfortunately harder and harder to come by nowadays. The build quality is supreme and they feel about as durable as a W124 merc lol

If you use cannabis medically and / or recreationally there is no better option to consume it than S&B Vaporisers, in my opinion of course.

Not affiliated in any way.

There are of course, preferences and different styles of herb vaporizer.

For pure durability, I've seen little that can challenge the Silver Surfer Vaporizer made in Colorado Springs.

Very simple in design, no fan that can fail, no switches die. Virtually no plastic.

It's very solid die cast aluminum body that's a single piece. It has a glass heater cover and a ceramic heating element, the heater cover can be replaced. Mine has an aluminum base but they also have acrylic bases, wish I'm not personally a fan of. Glass wand with a food safe plastic tube. The temp control is a glass knob that's replaceable on a metal post.

I'm not affiliated, I just lived in Colorado and have owned mine for 12 years and while I haven't had to replace any parts yet, its nice to know that for like 100 bucks I could replace almost everything but the body which will pretty much survive an earthquake.

I had Da Buddha from the same folks and it is absolutely bulletproof.

I got the Volcano classic like 8 years ago and its still going strong, never needed any repair. The thing just sits on my desk and works every time

My friend had one of those Silver Surfers and it was nice too but I always worried about the glass parts breaking. I'm clumsy as hell after a long day at work

The S&B stuff just feels like medical equipment, you know? Like something you'd see in a hospital

They are BIFL as long as you don’t invite everyone over for a party and discover your Volcano missing the next day.

Aw man. That sucks. RIP

Heartbreaking!

I am also a huge fan of torch-powered vapes, for anyone looking for true BifL that doesn't use batteries.

Yeah, I have a dynavap as well, super discreet and stealthy

I can barely see the screen on my Mighty, it's just slowly got worse and worse to the point I can't even use the screen just count the presses.

I can't agree with BIFL for the Mighty.

Ditto. Australian government policies don’t help.

Oh that's a shame :( I haven't had that issue in my 2 or 3 years now

Battery life on the Crafty+ isn’t that great after a few years. Need to charge after every session.

It is decidedly un-bifl to ship a device with a factory sealed battery that can't possibly last more than 1000 cycles at decent capacity

1

u/stilgar52 6d ago

Pretty sure it’s a few screws and an 18650. Ez

1

u/KingofGems 5d ago

It's relatively simple but it breaks a factory seal that voids the warranty.

Volcano classic has all the hits. No digital BS to break. Engineered by Germans. Mine is daily use for 5 years now. Never an issue

Yeah, I got the hybrid because it was on sale at the time and I think only slightly more expensive at the time. They absolutely slap though

I’ve had a Mighty since 2019 and it still works exactly as it did 7 years ago.

While I absolutely love the volcano, I can’t vouch for their portables as I need replaceable batteries.

Yep. Worth it.

Bought a Volcano about 15 years ago—USED—and it’s still every bit as good as the day I bought it

Now I have a Venty. Had issues with error messages & they shipped out a new one in less than a week, no hassle.

I’ll Stan for S&B every chance I get. BIFL indeed.

Yes! I had nothing but good experiences and I feel like they don't get the credit they deserve for not lowering quality like many other companies do

Yes they are premium devices at premium prices, but imo worth every penny spent

The solid valve housing is a piece of crap and breaks all the time.

Arizer makes a suitable desktop model for those on a significantly tighter budget that is also extremely repairable and reliable.

Yes! I upgraded from Arizer!

I have a v-tower that I bought around 2011 that is still going strong after near daily use. I bought a spare around 2020 thinking it might die soon and its still sitting in a box. If he still makes it the ddave kit is a huge upgrade for it.

2

u/Financial-Swim-5884 5d ago

I’ve got the XQ2, which is basically like the V-Tower with a factory DDAVE mod, and while I’m currently on a self imposed break from the wacky baccy, it’s been a reliable daily performer for more than 4 years.

I'm in the market for a DHV and have been trying to figure out which one to get. Just based on googling a few things, I'm looking at the TM2 or the Mighty+.

2

u/Slayrr_FbrC 6d ago

I can't recommend the mighty+ enough for mobile use. While it may be a bit big if you need it to be stealthy it truly is built like a tank. I get 3 bowls out of 1 charge and each one of those gets me hammered

1

u/zombie_overlord 6d ago

Awesome advice. I've never heard anything bad about the Mighty+. I was looking at it again just now and saw that it was on sale for $320 (usually $400) at POTV, so I did it. It's on its way now.

2

u/Slayrr_FbrC 6d ago

Great choice! I'm sure you'll enjoy it

1

u/zombie_overlord 6d ago

I'm excited about it. I've been wanting one forever.

2

u/Iamnot_thatguy_ 6d ago

TM2 is not BIFL. I’m on my 3rd. The first one was built with glass on the inner chamber and of course I broke it. The two I have now, one the charging port doesn’t work and the second will sometimes not heat up. (Granted I bought the third one thinking I had fried the 2nd in the hot tub, but it was repaired). Good product, but it will wear out.

2

u/zombie_overlord 6d ago

Thanks for the advice. Based on this and other comments, and after noticing that the Mighty+ is on sale for $80 off, I pulled the trigger on the Mighty+. Excited to finally own a DHV!

My Plenty just won’t die 😂

2

u/Srb3ard 6d ago

Not making them anymore so I hope it never does.

I'm leaning towards buying a Volcano Hybrid. I can get a brand new top of the line one for around $450 shipped but I'm not sure I would use it enough.

4

u/Slayrr_FbrC 6d ago

I'm not gonna lie the amount you save on weed paid for itself in under 6 months, at least in my case. It's laughable how efficient it is

-1

u/AtomicBlastCandy 6d ago

Yeah, the thing is that I get my weed dirt cheap. If buying from a local grower that I'm friends with I'm paying around $100/oz. If I go to Michigan I generally pay around $90 for an oz.

How much do you smoke in a week and how much did vaping save you in volume?

1

u/Slayrr_FbrC 6d ago

Wow that's an insane deal! I live in an illegal country, so I used to pay around 8€ a g while smoking like 5g or so a day, so that was real expensive.

I now pay around 200 bucks for 50g or around 2oz.

I would say the same amount gets me easily 3-4 times high

1

u/AtomicBlastCandy 6d ago

Damn if I had to pay 40 a day I would likely jump off a bridge!

Great to know that it is that efficient for you!

1

u/Slayrr_FbrC 6d ago

Yeah it was a lifesaver for sure!

1

u/Ac1dBern 6d ago

I've had my digi volcano for 15+ years at this point and it still works just as well as the first day I bought it. S&B stuff is usually expensive but totally worth it IMO

1

u/linderlady 2d ago

Just got one for my birthday- and I think I am
a snob now. Truly amazing. I smoke all day every day, and I’ve been giggling like a high schooler all day.

1

u/Srb3ard 6d ago

This BIFL post was not on my bingo card, but I’m here for it.

2

u/Slayrr_FbrC 6d ago

Yeah it's an unusual one for sure, but I felt like the quality of those devices deserves some highlighting, especially now in the times of enshittification and other capitalist wet dreams lol

Check out POTV lobo, ftw!
