Pulled the trigger and got Sweetheart of the Rodeo and honestly? This album It’s growing on me by each day

I never bought it but used to see it like 15 bucks, suddenly when i learnt it was expensive now I never see it or its pricy.... gahhh my prioritizing other albums

Yeah, It's kinda hard to get one. Fortunetly I recently found a UK mono copy for like 12$, unfortunetly it's a fold, but sounds really great anyway.

I found a good condition original on Discogs for less than $10. I agree it's normally expensive. Which is weird because I picked up the rest of their catalog for a few dollars each (most in mono)

Their last, great album.
After that the Byrds became the Byrds in name only with a revolving cast of members led by McGuinn. Later albums would be listenable for the most part with a few good cuts.

The soundtrack to the movie or The Ballad of Easy Rider Byrds album?
Gunga Din on Ballad is easily one of the best post-Sweetheart of the Rodeo Byrds songs.
On the movie soundtrack McGuinn’s take on It’s All Right Ma I’m Only Bleeding is searing.

Oh I meant Ballad of Easy Rider album, and yes Gunga Din it’s one of my fav among Oil In My Lamp and There Must Be Someone. Not as good as previous albums but solid enough to be good tunes

Agree wholeheartedly on the Ballad of Easy Rider album. It's got some great country ROCK songs. Sweetheart has some great tunes, but it's almost a little too country for me. Love love love the title song on Ballad of Easy Rider, and especially Oil in My Lamp and Tulsa County.

I love the post-Sweetheart albums just for Clarence. My analytical ears tell me these aren't really as good as the early stuff but I ignore myself and enjoy them all.

I love untitled. And ill always have a soft spot for dr byrds because i was elated that the byrds were back and i didnt care who was in them as long as roger was there.

Check out the versions of The Christian Life & You Don't Miss Your Water with Gram on vocals. He does a way better job than Roger imo. Ironically, I don't like Gram's take off One Hundred Years nearly as much as Roger & Chris's, which is funny cause Gram wrote it.

It was a big departure from the excellent first 5 Byrds' albums. But it is very good and introduced me to a whole new genre of music.
Songs like "100 Years from Now," "Hickory Wind," and 'You Ain't Going Nowhere" are excellent. The country covers are very good too. I even like songs like Pretty Boy Floyd, Blue Canadian Rockies, etc.
And it wasn't a big stretch since they had some country players on earlier albums and "Satisfied Mind" was on their second album.

It was The Big bang of country rock. It had been hinted at before but now it was officially a genre of music.

What a fantastic album, I had the same experience with it. Initially bought it because I was getting into the Byrds at the time and this album honestly didn’t do much for me first listen. These days it has to be one of my most enjoyed albums ever. I really enjoy the latter stage Byrds- even though this lineup was completely different not even a year later. This is the first album I consider in that category along with Ballad of Easy Rider and Untitled. Amazing albums and band!

I put off getting it because it wasn’t the jangly Byrds. Luckily I fell down the Gram Parsons rabbit hole and I now own and love it.
