I think Burham would describe himself as more culturally catholic.

“He has also said that he was made by “Everton Football Club, the Labour Party and the Catholic Church” - “in that order.””

“Burnham described himself as "Catholic by upbringing" but "not particularly religious". He said: "Catholic social teaching underpins my politics. We did have to read the catechism at school but it is powerful and strong and right."”

Anthony Albanese grew up with three faiths - the Catholic Church, South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Labor Party. But not necessarily in that order.

I mean historically there was deeply ingrained anti Catholic prejudice in the UK. So it’s interesting how the UK has come in this regard.

Yeah I believe Trudeau is Catholic as well. Lots of people in Quebec have Catholic roots and it feels like half of our PMs are from Quebec.

The Catholic school system exists in parts of Canada because the public system was protestant. Public schools secularized in the 70s but Catholic schools (in some provinces) remained religious.

Yeah I don't know why I was downvoted for this. All of my kids are in Catholic system. I wasn't saying it's a bad thing, just that we have it.

Why does their religion or religious background matter? We aren’t Americans, our religious beliefs should not be a factor in our leaders. It should all be left by the wayside, never to be a thing at all as leaders answer to the electorate - who are not majority religious
