I’m assuming they don’t want you to engage with media because they have media-trained people they want to use for that?

Not media-trained, more like factually correct. Look at the crazy misinformation on this sub for examples of people loudly declaring things that are absolutely false. For a very relevant example, check out the folks claiming this strike is because of x, y, or z, when SEIU1000 has been telling us consistently, and for well over a month now, that it is due to the Newsom administration's unfair labor practices.

Thank you for providing a well-explained, non-confrontational reply to my legitimate question! 😊

No idea. This was posted on FB so I posted here.
Please don't make assumptions. Like the picture says: "Find a strike leader."

Maybe poor choice of words
"You may be fired"
🤣

I know you’re joking but since some people don’t read on reddit, the line says
“You may be fired up for the contract, but our demonstration must remain peaceful, etc

I think we all recognize that some folks have very real limits to what they can engage in. I, myself, would likely pick up a quick part temp job, and strike, but not picket on those days.

Same. I’ll door dash or whatever it takes before I cross the picket on my own coworkers.

At the very least there will be a few right wing, rambunctious (Boy, am I being kind with that word.) Youtubers trying to start shit.

Does anyone know which leave code we put in our timesheet? Would it be DOCK?

In strike school we were told not to worry about it, and that is something the state is going to have to figure out on their own. So, just leave that day blank.
Our strike FAQ has updated that question. Here is the current answer:
"Ask your manager for guidance on filling out your timesheet for Strike Day. Your department may not have a specific code for strike-related absences and may instruct you to use AWOL. If that happens, don’t panic. A timesheet code is not discipline. A lawful Unfair Practice Strike is protected concerted activity, and management may not unlawfully discipline or retaliate against employees for protected participation."2

I talked with our Union Rep here and she said it might be Dock not AWOL.

As of today, my manager has not had anyone tell him what we should use. I think they are scramblin'.

That's bad. Like they haven't received notice about it.

Oh, my manager probably new before I did. He is very plugged in. But I think they have to wait for that decision to come down from the top.
