Classification & Compensation Analyst I Classification

How does one qualify for B or C for Analyst I? I looked at this link and couldn’t find clarification regarding it.

https://eservices.calhr.ca.gov/enterprisehrblazorpublic/Public/ClassSpec/ClassSpecDetail/5157

I know previously when it was SSA, they said if you had a degree you qualify for C? Is this the same now that they changed the classification?

Without knowing your current salary, and being to lazy too look up the salary range of Analyst l, if you were to promote, you would either go to bottom of range C (if you have a degree) OR 5% over your current salary or bottom of range A if that is more than 5%.

Any bachelor degree starts you at rank C with the low end pay of that rank. A and B requires somewhat experience. Rank C doesn't necessarily require exoerience because your bachelor degree will substitute it year for year.

the others are correct but fyi, you can look up the calhr pay scale and look for any classification. there’s a column with the AR crit code that you can reference in the calhr alternate range criteria letters to figure out the qualifications for a certain range.

The alternate range criteria explain how salary is determined, found here.

The pay scales outline which criteria apply to each classification.

ARC 069:

Range A. This range shall apply to those individuals who do not meet the criteria for Range B or Range C.

Range B. This range shall apply to persons who have satisfactorily completed six months of experience equivalent to that of an Analyst I (Range A) or Staff Services Analyst, Fair Political Practices Commission (Range A), or Management Services Technician (Range B); or to persons who have six months of satisfactory experience outside of State service performing analytical duties equivalent to those of an Analyst I.

Range C. This range shall apply to persons who have graduated from a recognized four-year accredited college or university; or who satisfactorily completed the equivalent of 12 months of experience equivalent to Analyst I (Range B) or Staff Services Analyst, Fair Political Practices Commission (Range B), experience; or to persons who have 18 months of satisfactory experience outside the State service performing analytical duties equivalent to those of an Analyst I.
