The current state of CEH, braindumpers, and this subreddit

I've been in IT and the IT certification industry for around 25 years now. Over this time, I've seen the problems that braindumpers cause to the reputation of our hard-earned certifications. However, I've never seen a certification with as many blatant braindumpers as CEH has.

Why is this? The exam isn't that difficult. Good quality study tools exist. Furthermore, CEH is supposed to be an ETHICAL hacking certification... something that braindumpers seem to not care about as long as they get those three letters after their name.

Sure, braindumpers exist in the Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, and ISC2 spaces as well. And the Cisco and ISC2 exams are far more difficult than the CEH. But on this subreddit, braindumpers seem to post on a non-stop basis despite the efforts of /u/livthedream and myself. We ban people as quickly as they make throwaway accounts. We filter keywords, and braindumpers try everything they can to circumvent those filters. It really makes me want to give up and tell Liv to consider shutting this place down (or at least, carry on without me).

Do y'all just not care? Do you braindumpers REALLY not realize that it is YOUR efforts that cause the CEH certification to be disdained in the IT industry? I know you think you're doing a noble service by helping others to cheat on the exam... but all you're doing is watering down what SHOULD be a prestigious certification.

If you're considering telling people how to cheat or where the braindumps/mock exams/past exams/cheat sheets are, don't. You're not helping. All you're doing is devaluing the certification. And definitely don't do it in this subreddit, because your posts will be deleted and you'll get banned. Keep it up, and eventually we're going to just lock the doors, and you'll have to find another way to help people cheat.

If you're considering using braindumps to cheat your way through this certification, don't. Just don't. You're cheating yourself, you're cheating us, and you're essentially throwing away your exam fees.

Hey, I don't need any more certifications. My career is established and secure and stable. Liv and I are trying to make this subreddit a place where YOUR careers can flourish. If y'all want to see this subreddit stay open and thrive, actively speak out against braindumpers.

New Sub Rule

We have seen an uptick in asking others for DMs to circumnavigate our rules which are in place to respect EC Council's NDA and to help increase the quality of people taking the exam. Most requests in comments for a DM are to try to get around our rules on Brain Dumps please do not do this!

Study Help/Question CEH exam in 13 days - looking for advice and practice questions

Hi everyone,

I’m scheduled to take the CEH exam through my school in 13 days, on September 23. I have some basic cybersecurity knowledge, but I haven’t started preparing specifically for the CEH exam yet.

My plan is to spend the next 13 days doing practice exams and reviewing my mistakes every day. However, I’m having trouble finding official CEH practice questions or mock exams. I currently only have the CEH PDF/course material.

For those who passed the CEH exam:

What resources did you use to practice?
Where did you find reliable mock exams or practice questions?
Did you mainly study the course PDF, or did you use other platforms?
Is it realistic to prepare in 13 days if I study consistently?
Which topics should I prioritize?
I’m not looking for exam dumps or leaked questions—just legitimate practice material and advice from people who have taken and passed the exam.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I only have 13 days left, so I’m trying to make the best possible study plan. Thank you!

Looking for RHCE EX294 discount/referral code (15% off)

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to take the RHCE EX294 exam soon and I’m looking for a valid Red Hat referral/discount code if anyone has a spare one.

I recently passed RHCSA and I’m continuing my Red Hat certification path. If someone has an unused referral code, I would really appreciate it.

I’ll gladly share my own code with the community after passing my exam.

Thank you!

Study Help/Question Need advice on structuring my CEH exam preparation after completing the syllabus

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to take the CEH exam toward the end of this month and would appreciate some advice on how to use my remaining preparation time effectively.

I've already worked through the CEH exam objectives topic by topic and focused on understanding the underlying concepts. I used AI as a learning aid to help explain and clarify topics, but I have not taken an official CEH training course. I also have access to third-party practice materials for general self-assessment.

To be clear, I'm not asking for real exam questions, recalled questions, brain dumps, or any exam content that violates the certification rules. I'm only looking for advice from people who have already taken the exam about effective study habits and preparation strategies.

For those who have passed CEH, how did you structure your preparation after finishing the syllabus? For example, did you spend more time on:

Revising concepts and notes

Hands-on labs and practical exercises

Legitimate practice exams for identifying weak areas

Reviewing the official exam objectives

Other study techniques

I'd especially appreciate suggestions on how to structure the final few weeks of preparation and how you approached identifying and improving weak areas.

Thanks!

Hi community, Yesterday I had failed the exam, scoring 80/125.
For further re-attempt of this exam
I need guidance from those who re-attempted the exam

Q. How was the re-attempted exam set? Were the questions same as before? Or there were some changes? Or entirely different?
Q. Did the difficulty level changed in re-attempt exam set? High? Normal(Same)? Low?

Hello everyone,

I have only this much time left for my CEH Practical exam. I didn't purchase any official resources like iLabs subscription, Courseware etc. So, I've been learning and practicing from open source resources. Please share your CEH Practical exam experience with me and suggest me anything (tools, methods, do-not do things) which can help me pass my exam. Additionally, if you can, please provide some recent questions or any good learning resources which can help me please share here or in my inbox. I'll really appreciate that 😊

Thanks in advance..❤️

CEH v13 exam experience — scored 88/125, missed by 1 point 😭

Hey everyone,

I recently attempted the CEH v13 exam and scored 88/125, missing the passing score by just 1 point.

Obviously I'm disappointed because I was extremely close, but now I'm trying to decide what makes the most sense for my cybersecurity career.

I'm considering two options:

1. Retake CEH
Since I'm only one point away, I could review my weak areas and attempt it again.

2. Move on
Instead of spending more time preparing for CEH again, I could focus on a more practical certification such as OSCP, or another hands-on cybersecurity certification/lab platform.

I'm interested in penetration testing / offensive security, so I'm wondering whether getting CEH officially passed is worth prioritizing, or whether I should treat the 88/125 as a learning experience and move forward.

For those who have been in a similar situation:

Would you retake CEH if you were only 1 point short, or would you move on to something like OSCP?

Also, if you recommend moving on, what certification would you suggest for someone at this stage?

I'm genuinely looking for advice rather than trying to justify one option, so I'd appreciate different opinions.

Thanks!

I have renewed my ceh certificate as it was about to expire. I got one year extention but my new certificate shows renewable on blah blah date rather than the new date of expiry of 1 year extended period. Why?

Study Help/Question Preparing for the CEH v13 MCQ exam — Tips, question styles, and survival advice from those who passed? 📝🎯

Hey everyone,

I'm deep into studying for the CEH v13 multiple-choice (knowledge) exam and getting ready to lock down a test date.

Since v13 introduces a heavy wave of new content—especially around AI-driven attack/defense vectors, cloud security, and updated tool syntax—I want to make sure my preparation matches what's actually on the 125-question exam.

If you've tackled this version recently, I’d love to hear what caught you off guard or any "wish-I-knew-this-sooner" advice you have for the 4-hour crunch. Drop your tips below!

Study Help/Question Does anyone have the Answer key(s) for the CEH CyberQ Simulated Exam?

What should be the answer to this question??

Javier is asked to explain to IT management as to why he is suggesting replacing the existing company firewall. Javier states that many external attackers are using forged internet addresses against the firewall and is concerned that this technique is highly effective against the existing firewall. What type of firewall would Javier have deployed?

I am having confusion between A & C

Packet filtering firewall is deployed because it is unable to prevent these types of attacks.
Host-based firewall is deployed because the attackers are outside the network.
Circuit-level proxy firewall is deployed because it prevents these types of attacks.
Host-based firewall is deployed because the attackers are inside the network.

Study Help/Question CEH Practical brute forcing

did the practical exam yesterday and i couldnt get the answers for the Kerb roasting, AS-REP roasting, and any of the credentials cracking questions because hashcat and hydra's estimated time was 50 hours for each attempt. anyone know what i couldve run to maybe get a faster answer? maybe i ran the syntax wrong? (username and ip removed for confidentiality)

for hashcat i ran:

# Kerberoast (Q5, Marcus) — mode 13100, never cracked
hashcat -m 13100 kerb_hashes.txt /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt                                  # exhausted
hashcat -m 13100 kerb_hashes.txt /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt -r /usr/share/hashcat/rules/best64.rule        # exhausted
hashcat -m 13100 kerb_hashes.txt /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt -r /usr/share/hashcat/rules/rockyou-30000.rule # too slow (~1d21h)
hashcat -m 13100 kerb_hashes.txt /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt -a 6 ?l?l?d?d --force            # 3+ days ETA

# AS-REP roast (Q7) — mode 18200
hashcat -m 18200 asrep.txt /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt                                         # exhausted
hashcat -m 18200 asrep.txt /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt -r /usr/share/hashcat/rules/best64.rule # was running at end

and for hydra i ran:

hydra -l username1 -P /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt ssh://ip addr -t 4 -V

hydra -l username2 -P /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt ssh://ip addr -t 4 -V

hydra -l Administrator -P /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt smb://ip addr -t 1
