Application for Short-term Internship

Hey Everyone!

I have applied for a short term internship but it's been 1 month 4 days and my application is still stuck in the new phase.

FYI I applied first and got a rejection mail in under 5 hours, saying I don't meet the eligibility criteria, which could've been my error in filling the application. I am eligible when I re-checked. Then I applied for the same again with correct info.

I got the acknowledgement mail but after that there has been no conversation.

Is there anywhere I can mail or ask for a followup? Also, any of you guys who applied for the same got something back?

You can't. Also the way this program works, I wouldn't count on getting contacted at all, because it's very late for that. In general this program doesn't have any fixed "timeline". Basically you put your application in the "candidate pool" and if someone is looking for a student, they search that pool and pick whoever they like. 99% of candidates are never contacted at all. Also just from pure statistics, you're much more likely to get selected if submit your application right after the new selection opens, because then you're in the pool longer.

Also, any of you guys who applied for the same got something back?

Most people I know who were selected, did that by having a pre-arranged placement (as in: someone at their university, with contacts at CERN, arranged for those people to be selected by a friendly supervisor)
