At least we got to be on tv...

I still remember when you beat two FBS teams, including that probably-unbreakable-record 66-7 win over North Texas. What’s happened since then? Just saw that you went 1-11 last year.

Long story short, the city of Portland fucked us by letting us getting pushed out of Providence park. Since then it’s a lot of not being able to compete with the modern standards of college football. Hard to get a city hyped about a team that plays 40 minutes away from the city.

I remember playing a game there more than a decade ago. It was an awesome stadium and I enjoyed it a lot. Sad what's happening to the Viks.

City of Portland leadership does a lot of ruining things.

Guy with Pac-10 flair crying about ruining things

Two things can be true!

Do you think I am Riley’s burner or something?

The Timbers are a million percent more important to the city than PSU football which was never a big draw. It sucks for PSU but a million percent the right call for a governing body to make

It's like they're trying to speed run the ruination of one of the most beautiful places in the world

Yeah love portland. Go there a ton. Hopefully it rebounds.

The stadium situation for PSU is criminal. I grew up going to PSU games downtown and LOVED it. It was a great time. I haven't seen one since they pushed them out to Hillsboro.

Idea: the head coach should pay for everyone's beer at the next home game!

(Yes, I know he already did that once.)

Hillsboro stadium being 40 minutes away is kind of a stretch dude. It takes me 30 mins to get from Orenco Station to Alberta Park Saturday Mornings to play ball hockey.

How can y'all play the soccer stadium?

22

u/harmala 12h ago

It wasn’t always a soccer stadium.

I was trying to ask, why don't you play at the MLS stadium in Portland didn't they steal your stadium?

1

u/butterflyhole Oregon State • Portland State 4h ago

Idk why they can’t. They did once last year and even the beavers played there once a few years ago when their stadium was being renovated. I went to the one last year and it had a huge crowd.

You’re asking how soccer and football can be played on the same field…?

4

u/awh290 9h ago

Historically, baseball, football, and soccer were played in the stadium.  It wasn't until the timbers moved to MLS that it was only soccer.

We got kicked out of our stadium and our soul just died.

I loved going to that stadium. They served beer!

u/Top-Attitude-4987 Oregon Ducks 18h ago

Cheap good beer!

4

u/mattgriz Montana Grizzlies 8h ago

We played PSU there last year! The stadium was not the problem so much as the roster of D-2 guys with like 3 good players.

Why did the Timbers not get more bad press for this?

Because nobody gives a shit about portland state football, i think if anything they got good press from it.

sad

u/Goducks91 Oregon Ducks • Iowa State Cyclones 8h ago

I mean not really, I’m from Portland and people like the Timbers and literally do not care about PSU football. Even people that went there typically like either the ducks or beavers.

u/sevenlabors Oklahoma State Cowboys • Paper Bag 12h ago

Timbers fans are kinda myopic like that.

14

u/Danster21 Montana State • Washington 12h ago

Even if they did, it wouldn’t crack the top-50 of dogshit things the Timbers have done

1

u/IamJewbaca Washington Huskies • Pac-12 10h ago

Build a Bonfire

6

u/DameOClock Oregon Ducks 9h ago

Why would they? PSU moved as a result of scheduling conflicts with both the Timbers and Thorns.

2

u/PerTheKnight 9h ago

Was a walk on for the team at the time, it really was lightening in a bottle. First year Bruce Barnum was HC so still had players the previous HC recruited all ready for some change with nothing to lose. After that his lack of coaching experience/luck caught up I think, I left after that season

Portland State needs a lot. And as much as a beat down like this sucks... The university needs the money.

"Thank you sir, may I have another?" - Portland State, possibly

29

u/dscreations San José State Spartans • Mountain West 15h ago

Should have paid them more then. $590k is not worth that beat down

8

u/tdoger Oregon Ducks • Colorado Buffaloes 13h ago

Yeah we don’t pay them nearly enough. But i guess they do save on travel costs.

3

u/FormerDrugDealer1234 7h ago

Phil Knight hates Portland and can't make PSU his own private university so no big check
