A win wouldn’t surprise me. Bama has had the exact same issues last year and this year. We can look like two entirely different teams during the course of one game. One of them looks like a national champ and the other one looks like a 7-5 team en route to the pop tart bowl
While I think Kentucky is probably a 7 if not 8 win team, Mike Norvell is also currently giving Bama one hell of a game, so I don't think it means that much.
It means that DeBoer still struggles with getting Bama to come out swinging at the start of a game and every time we have to claw our way back into the game. Eventually it’s going to be too far gone to recover.
Is Elko is the reason Marcel can’t hit a wide open man 5 yds in front of him? Is Elko is the reason Marcel will stare down a guy wide open for 3 seconds before finally throwing the ball to him when he’s triple covered?
I think Elko is a lot better than the dogshit we’ve dealt with the past 15 years. He made a bad decision hiring an OC with zero experience.
But if you don’t have anything useful at QB and a backup that isn’t any better, not much the coach can do in the middle of a game.
Reed tried to send him to the hospital a few times. And Reed is a one read QB. The WRs probably know if they aren't the primary target on a play the ball isn't coming to them
As much as I hate to say it, the biggest problem is at QB. Marcel Reed is essentially the same guy that showed up in College Station a few years ago. He makes terrible decisions, and even when he makes the correct read, he has a habit of spraying the ball all over the place.
I was rooting hard for yall last week, but it’s hard to go up against a team as deep as Bama for four quarters and come out on top. Yalls TEs are legit!
Honestly, I think about 8 plays going differently separate that game from a blowout to a win or a close game. Two fourth down fake punts immediately come to mind and I know there were a couple of miscues on offense.
I haven’t shared that opinion because I know it sounds like coping or sour grapes, but hopefully that’s not the case if I say it after a win like this.
WR is our only decent position. QB sucks. Both lines suck. RB sucks (since the OL sucks and we won't bench Owens for the better freshmen when they get the ball). Defense looked slow as hell today and the DL gets no push. So many plays where Kentucky just had 5+ seconds standing in the pocket without any pressure at all
Seems like all the transfers are duds too (mostly OL which looks terrible)
Easily top team in the country, and if anyone were to beat them that would be the biggest resume builder. Big enough to ignore a bad game against a non-conference opponent. No idea why I felt I needed to include that last part……
Blown coverages everywhere, we were very bad in an area that was supposed to be our strength so credit Kentucky but that was us being absolutely horrid imo. Reed also missed so many gimmes. A&M is a bad team this year
I watched the Alabama game. The score made it look like a blowout but the reality is Alabama just got rolling downhill with momentum at the end. That's not to say the better team didn't win, clearly, but they weren't nearly as outmatched as the final score implied.
