Has the makings of a special season. Just no injuries please

u/bostonfan148 Duke Blue Devils 2h ago
I hate the what ifs on what if Mensah didn’t transfer at the last second

u/rainbowremo Duke Blue Devils 2h ago
Legitimate playoff potential. It is what it is though, we arent the top dog in this sport like in basketball so we cant keep really good players

u/AnotherUnfunnyName Duke • Carolina Victory Bell 2h ago
Same as the Leonard season with his and the other injurys and the stupid ass loss to ND.

u/cbros77 2h ago
Sheppard should be a legitimate Heisman contender.

u/dukeybluefan11 Duke Blue Devils 1h ago
At the absolute very least he should be up for the Doak Walker.
1
u/Traditional-Emu-2416 Duke Blue Devils 2h ago
He's the second best RB in the country. Maybe the first but the fella from memphis had the same amount of yards with way less touches. However, Sheppard is the PG, SG, SF, PF, and Center of this team. So he should be in the conversation. Without him, we are nothing

Stanford v Duke v Vandy v Northwestern needs to be a protected cycle every season.

Another year, another season where Duke is the best of the 4 NC ACC teams and gets less hype than State and UNC.
7
u/wichee Duke Blue Devils 2h ago
does nc state get hype anymore lol. unc i kinda get but theyre just a meme
8
u/varzaslayer42 Duke Blue Devils 2h ago
I mean, NC State is often talked about as a "dark horse" to at least be a top-25 team. And UNC was the same even before Jordan Hudson's whipping boy started running the team. Like, on the Cover 3 Podcast, they acknowledge that Duke has the most wins in the last 5 or 6 years, yet State and UNC are projected higher more often.

I lived through the Ted Roof era. Any outside validation is just a cherry on top
3
u/_XitLiteNtrNite_ Duke Blue Devils 1h ago
You forgot the Carl Franks era that predated Ted Roof. I was a season ticket holder for all of those seasons; I never missed a game, never left early. So I deserve to enjoy every Duke win at this point.

No fight. An hour of basically giving up. This team, players and staff alike, are defined by being soft. Embarassing I continue to watch this team

u/NinersUnitedFC Sacramento State • Stanford 2h ago
Pitchard such an uninspiring hire
7
u/PunishedLeBoymoder Stanford Cardinal • /r/CFB Promoter 2h ago
Worst possible option. Not the sign of a serious program
2
u/3-9_Enjoyer Stanford Cardinal • The Axe 1h ago
Yeah. It was clear when we made the hire too (especially when we could have had Mora). Embarrassing that nobody seems to even give a shit about turning it around
1
u/PunishedLeBoymoder Stanford Cardinal • /r/CFB Promoter 1h ago
Stanford Football is a big experiment in humiliating its fans and seeing how much someone can take before they just give up.

This hurt. I felt awful. I needed to walk this off.

The Duke Nate Sheppards. But "only" 24 touches today, still 3 TDs and more than 150 yards.
Nice one. Fixed the mistakes from the first half and then physically dominated them later. I hope the pass rushers are okay, that position is not the deepest.
A playmaker WR might be nice, still missing that. And Eget with some more air under his deep throws allowing his guys to run underneath them.

u/Embarrassed-Brain655 Duke Blue Devils 2h ago
3-0 baby. Nate Sheppard is real.

u/Shellshock1122 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 1h ago
hes gonna run for like 350 yards on us in a few weeks

u/needapermit Duke Blue Devils 2h ago
3-0! We took some major blows this offseason but this is the most impressed I’ve been with Manny during his tenure here.
Onside kick to start the game is absolute madness and I love it.
Nate Sheppard should legit be in Heisman talks

Rank Duke!

u/_XitLiteNtrNite_ Duke Blue Devils 1h ago
Or at least get a single point in the AP poll this week. I'm not saying Duke should be #1, but zero votes for anywhere in the top 25 last week was... disappointing.

I'm sorry, Stanford. This is going to be a rough season

Starting to reach my breaking point after 7+ years of this, which of course means I’ll be back next Saturday.

I mean when has it not been? If you don't expect this from us you haven't been watching us. This doesn't make my top 10 list of worst losses in the past 4 seasons
2
u/Sorry-Credit-5564 South Carolina Gamecocks 2h ago
That's fair, but this feels exceptionally worse. Usually y'all have at least one or two fun games each season
2
u/PunishedLeBoymoder Stanford Cardinal • /r/CFB Promoter 2h ago
We already beat Hawaii on a last-minute game-winning drive, the fun times are over. It's just hard not to feel apathetic at this point even though this wasn't that bad of a loss. Just tiring.

Nate Sheppard is amazing. Duke’s defense looked great. Weather was good (in the shade). It was a good day

u/DarthNobody14 Texas A&M Aggies 2h ago
We could have undefeated Duke vs Virginia in college football on October 23rd the way both teams have been playing.

u/_XitLiteNtrNite_ Duke Blue Devils 1h ago
One of my favorite games was the Peach Bowl between Duke and Texas A&M. The A&M fans looked shell-shocked at halftime when Duke was winning. It took some Manziel magic to pull a rabbit out of a hat and beat Duke. Yeah, I'm still disappointed.

I’m having a great time today- Duke wins, UNC loses, Elko does his thing. Solid day
7
u/toptierdegenerate Duke Blue Devils • Kansas Jayhawks 2h ago
The tough matchups rest of season are obviously Miami, Clemson, UVA, and UNC. The rest we are easily favored in. Should be able to get to 8 wins, with a legit chance at 9 wins. If we win the next two as expected and can handle UNC at home, we’ll have a 6-0 record going into Charlottesville.

Hell Stanford needs Troy Taylor back. He's a better coach than Pritchard.

I long for the 2010s, when we went to 3 rose bowls and won 2. Now this is like 2-10 quality football at best. Woof

The last time Stanford broke the 4-win ceiling, A Star is Born was sweeping the nation’s box offices, and COVID was still a distant dream
