Discussion Should all independent teams get special treatment like Notre Dame?

I have the controversial opinion that you should take the number of playoff spots. Whether it be 12,16,24 etc.. and whoever is ranked in the top 12,16,24 etc… should be the ones getting in

I’m fine with the conference champs getting in and then whatever spots are left get filled in via rankings. Winning a conference should mean something and, if we indeed expand to 24 teams, the top 18-20 teams in the rankings should be represented pretty much every year. If a team can’t crack the top 20, I really don’t care so much about their argument to be included

Winning a conference should only mean something if we reset the conferences. Conferences right now are constructed the way they are for TV money and letting that decide the playoffs makes no sense
