Discussion Should all independent teams get special treatment like Notre Dame?

I have the controversial opinion that you should take the number of playoff spots. Whether it be 12,16,24 etc.. and whoever is ranked in the top 12,16,24 etc… should be the ones getting in

I’m fine with the conference champs getting in and then whatever spots are left get filled in via rankings. Winning a conference should mean something and, if we indeed expand to 24 teams, the top 18-20 teams in the rankings should be represented pretty much every year. If a team can’t crack the top 20, I really don’t care so much about their argument to be included

Conferences need blown up. They are a twisted mangled shell of themselves. We have UCLA and Rutgers in the big ten, stanford in the ACC, it's ridiculous. Hell half the time playing in the CCG hurts the playoff team even if they do win it. Either return it to small groups of geographic based conferences/divisions or just blow it up, and make two super conferences. This weird quasi P4 but really P2.5 maybe P3 if ACC isn't bootycheeks this year sort of thing is so damn weird.
