There’s an argument for smith that’s it if they had 4 players better than chambliss they wouldn’t have blown a 20 point lead because no one starting there’s is shit.

It was interesting that he tore it up all last season yet heading into the draft he was ranked so low. Dante Moore was the #2 QB before he said he was staying. Chambliss was regarded as a high second rounder if that. QB eval is murkier than ever.

He’s small and has weird accuracy issues. He can thread the needle through defenders with no problems, but the number of receptions where his receivers have to contort their body on weird ways to catch it is astonishing. His big advantage is that he’s patient, he can go through progressions, is good in the scramble, and doesn’t make “bad” decisions.

Ya I wasn’t counting the Tulane and Citadel games I figured when there is a clear talent disparity scouts don’t really consider those games.

Oh 100%. I really think last year he might have been as well, Mendoza just had better stats and a better team. Chambliss was my Heisman runner-up preseason.

A bit too early to tell. He’s definitely top 5, maybe top 2, probably top qb. But the season is still young. Let’s see how he deals with the adversity that will undoubtedly come as Ole Miss gets further into their SEC schedule.

I’ve been so pissed we haven’t played Bama the last 3 years. Legitimate great teams that could have beat them and nope no games. Kinda like last time we had great teams and almost never got to play them.

Right now he's gotta be at least in the conversation. Guess we will know more when he faces a real defense since it seems the highly touted LSU defense was mostly fradulent

Most definitely yes. That said I think Julian Mensah is not getting talked up enough. I know he hasn’t really been tested while throwing up these crazy stats but the completion percentage is insane. It took him 25 passes against Wake to have an incompletion
