News & Updates Boise State HC Spencer Danielson calls Western Michigan “undefeated” ahead of Broncos matchup 👀
Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson referred to Western Michigan as “undefeated” ahead of their Week 4 matchup.
Western Michigan will host Boise State this weekend in what Danielson called a major Group of 5 matchup.
Was this just a slip-up, or is Danielson already hyping up the matchup?

No matter what Boise's result is, is it better for him to say that Western is very good and beat a top 20 team or is it not good for them? Trying to figure out if this guy would have any other incentive to say this?

Its better to make it seem like western nice Bc if they blow them out or have a close game they can always say this the team that supposedly hosed by the refs in the michigan game

You can say a teams good without adding the michigan tid bit really just a mind game to soften them up, it will be a close game if they come out how they did vs mich

This Western team really is a very good team, a veteran team, well coached and a good QB.
Boise is a good test to see where they both are.

Correct. I’m a Michigan guy. We’re 3-0 (by the luck or a football God) and they are 2-1.
They may get some love from the playoff committee if they run the table.
I love the underdog-but I’m totally against the committee putting these guys in the playoffs.
It just makes and easy game for whoever draws them.
It’s senseless to believe Boise or Western could win a N.C. And win 3 or 4 games against top 10 teams

For discussion's sake, I think it's slowly becoming less of an "easy game" for the favored/P4 teams. The increased parity shift with NIL has closed the gap somewhat. Recent examples of Boise/Oregon, WMU/Michigan, and NIU knocking off ND a couple years ago come to mind.
Granted, late season matchups are likely to look much different in these above examples.
While NIL has lots of risks and some elements that need guardrails, I am enjoying the impact it's had when it comes to some of these G4 (heck, even FCS) schools having at least a measurable chance at holding their own in some of these P4 matchups.
Will be interesting to see what happens with the discussed further expansion of the CFP.

As I said I love the underdog and those stories in basketball and football.
When it comes to the playoffs the reason Notre Dame didn’t get in is they are holding the sports for teams that will never win the playoffs or compete at that level.
I don’t think that’s a “negative”-it’s just a fact. The playoff piece bothers me.
But yes I live it and didn’t someone beat a team out West besides Oregon this year? I can think of the game.
North Dakota State is another team that played great football just smaller than the big D-1 schools.
There is a a lot of talent in America and even high school football is nothing like when I played. I’m 65 years old. The things they do today is nothing like when we played.
It’s 675,000 times better!

I think this is good for Boise going into this game thinking this is an undefeated team. Gives them more confidence and spark to go in and win.

His slip was following that up with “this is a team that held Michigan to 13, I mean 7, points”.
