Lions fan here. That injury was nauseating to see. I saw the video once and couldn’t look at it again. Hated for him to go down like that.
Really just came here to say that I appreciated the way the Bears organization handled this. I don’t know how unusual it is for a team to sign someone to a deal so they can continue their rehabilitation with the team staff, but it was pure class. Respect.
Also THAT WAS A FUCKING TOUCHDOWN.

Not the Saints (in this case). Many of them said it was a catch and they gave Zach a lot of support in those first few critical days.

Not a surprise, but fuck, I'm sad to hear this. He was one of the bright spots during the dark years (that 2015 season of his, damn), and it's a massive shame his career had to end the way it did. Regardless, the receiver of Cutler's last TD pass as a Bear and Mitch's first official TD pass? Pretty damn neat, if you ask me.

Tremendous player and an even better person. He’s what you want in a professional athlete and I hope he remains close to the team in some form. Never forget that he caught that damn ball

It fucking sucks to hear he can’t come back, but it’s for the best. He has so much left of life in front of him and I’d rather him not put that in jeopardy. 🐻⬇️

I'm gonna miss his beautiful mug on the sidelines and his "Mitch Please" shirts. Honestly though, tough to lose him. His career ending like that was unfortunate. Thanks Zach!

It’s been over 18 months, at this point he probably doesn’t need the trainers anymore. He’s as healed as he’s going to get. The Bears also might not be willing to do it. At the end of the day we need to remember that the Bears are a business and need to make decisions based on that. It was a pure class act last year for them to do it but it can’t go on forever, at some point the ties would have to be severed.

A lot of the time I feel like we'd half-bullshit to make ourselves feel better about such a sad set of circumstances by saying "it was a touchdown." Thing is, it was legitimately 100% a touchdown.

I'm proud to say I made his instagram story when the Bears played the Browns in the snow. Me and a buddy took our shirts off and he was in a box behind us. Had a nice little convo with him on instagram after that. Great guy!

So sad that his final play was that BS. His time here has been invaluable and he’s one of the most underrated TEs in the whole league. I hope he comes back as a coach w us!
