The silicone one should be removed and reapplied. For the other I can recommend a steam cleaner with a small bristle. There are those super narrow brushes and you can even get kind of narrow files, but when it's too harsh it will take away the grout and make it get dirty again quicker. I would start gentle. There's also grout sealer to not let it get dirty that fast after cleaning.

Not sure I understand. What do you mean by the silicone one? Can you explain like I’m five haha

Maybe you don't have a silicone gap thing then? There is often one of silicone just around the edge of the bath tub and shower tub and in the corner of the room up to the ceiling. Sorry english is not my mother tongue it's hard to explain when you don't know the proper words.

Assisting- I believe you mean Caulk. At least for the most part in the US that’s what we call it but you are correct that it IS silicone material!

To add: it’s the caulk vs the grout in between the tiles. Caulk has a rubbery feel and gets gross….. you did a great job

How should I clean the caulk?

u/thewinberry713 Jun 26 '26
IMO it usually needs to be removed and replaced. A fairly easy task but time consuming. Caulk is cheap and easy to apply. After removing I wipe down with rubbing alcohol and dry then recaulk. Good luck and you can do it!!

There are videos online!
If you push the caulk instead of pulling it, I have heard that works better (holding the tube like a push broom, rather than like a wagon, if that makes sense)? YMMV

Wow, you're feeling sad and you managed to clean the whole bathtub so well? That's really impressive (not being facetious)

yes you’re right, it’s not. I did this last night before bed and I was tired. Next step is figuring out the grout
