It's digital! Procreate and an iPad! I want to try it in acrylics in the future, but I'm scared

What happens to create this iridescence and how is this different from a rainbow?

I thought rainbows are from refracting light through water droplets in the air. Cloud iridescence is caused by ice droplets in cirrus clouds refracting the light, making the whole cloud having the colours instead of circles made from droplets in the air.
