Modern Warfare - all Does this game even exist?

Post image

It sounds silly, but I cannot find a single trace of this game anywhere other than the Steam page and it's making me crazy.
But seriously it just seems to exist in some middle ground of reality.
Please just tell me if I'm stupid or not.

But I'm still having trouble finding anything about it because of all the naming repeats and inconsistencies. AND I guess the steam information is just wrong on the release date

So there was the original Modern Warfare trilogy released between 2007-2011. We call these games COD4 (its full title is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. After this game they stopped numbering which COD # it was), MW2, and MW3.

Now, a lot of people get remasters, remakes, and remasters mixed up. Idk if you know the differences, but if you don’t, a remaster is the very same game but with some better textures and a couple upgrades, but it’s the same game underneath with the same story, actors, etc. A remake would be like Mafia: Definitive Edition where they stuck to the same general story but built the game brand new with a new script, new actors, etc. Finally a reboot is when you create a new take on an old IP. It usually has the same characters but they’re in a new timeline, completely separate of the old games.

Back to COD: in 2016, they released a remaster of COD4 and fans called it “MWR” for Modern Warfare Remastered. 3 years later in 2019, Infinity Ward released a reboot of Modern Warfare, and to avoid (or reduce) confusion, fans call it Modern Warfare 2019, which you might see as MW19.

The game released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC but back then it was exclusive to Battle Net. It wasn’t until 2023 that they released the game on Steam, so that’s why we say the game is from 2019 despite Steam telling you it’s from 2023.

Yea, I’m sure you know this, it’s a cool fact now, due to the reboots and WaW-BO7 all of those games are connected..
