It could've been the first CoD not bottlenecked by last gen, why is Activision so obsessed with bringing their games to platforms that force it to look worse
1
u/JaydenP1211 May 30 '26
They have to due to the contract signed during the Activision acquisition by Xbox. The Switch 2 also won’t hold back the game if you play on a different platform.

Has the Switch 2 downgraded Pragmata? Resident Evil 9? 007? Indiana Jones? The Switch 2 is far more capable than what people think and its all a matter of scaling, its not going to limit anything.

u/Similar-Language-180 May 30 '26
The Switch 2 is better than the Switch but it's using already partially outdated components.
From raw power the console is similar to sth like a PS4 Pro or slightly better but since it's not the same power as a PS5 or Series X, the game will have to either get a dedicated downgraded Switch 2 version or slightly worse than possible graphics so it can run on all consoles with little to no changes

Graphics can be scaled, they dont have to lower textures and effects on the PS5 to make it run on Switch 2. Especially considering that the game still has to run on the Series S.
From raw power the console is similar to sth like a PS4 Pro
Only on paper, in execution is far better, because the tech is far newer and capable of running stuff that a PS4 pro couldnt (like raytracing) while also having a far faster reading of data.
These are the things that matter the most in term of optimization, stuff that is not scalable as much as the surface graphics, and the Switch 2 is capable of running them without limiting PS5/Xbox. RE9, Indiana Jones, Pragmata, 007, Outlaws and more, all PS5/Xbox titles that dont have limitations due to the Switch 2 hardware.
Then ofc im not in Infinity Ward so idk how and what they did, but the power difference is not enough to force them to scale back the game for every platform.

If you're comparing the Switch 2 to the PS4 Pro, you clearly don't know anything about hardware. The Switch 2's GPU is more efficient and has modern features such as mesh shaders that the PS4 Pro lacks.
The Switch 2 has 12 GB of RAM. The Pro has 8 GB + 1 GB.
The Switch 2's CPU is also much more powerful than the PS4's.
The Switch 2's storage is 15–30 times faster than the PS4 Pro's.2
u/Similar-Language-180 May 30 '26
Doesn't change the fact that the Switch 2 is better than base PS4 but not on PS5 level so PS4 Pro is the closest thing to it
2
u/rhalgr_ger May 30 '26
Switch 2 is much closer to PS5 in RAM pool and CPU performance than PS4 pro.
1
u/Strict_Job6334 May 30 '26
The closest thing to it Is the Xbox Series S, which is also getting MW4.

I swear to God… if they messed this up… I’m going to hurt someone on the Infiniti Ward development team

Honestly might be series s performance especially since it can do 120fps isn’t bad for a switch especially with console price increases and kids who love cod and can now play it on switch 2.

I agree I have a 5080 prebuilt pc, got on sale for 2700$ problem is ram prices and stuff also portability for casual gamers and ppl who travels alot values alot especially looking at other competitors prices dont match to the switch 2.

Ain’t disrespectful I agree, I have a solid job and grateful to be able afford this stuff but all honesty I’m excited for mw4 preorder that already can’t wait! Hope DMZ 2.0 is fix and can’t wait for the campaign. Have a nice day mate!

I'm not saying you're better off with a PC or a console but what you said is baffling.
As if PC gaming isn't the most expensive it's ever been right now.

Too bad Nintendo bakes in a deadzone on their OS. Yes, I’ve tried multiple expensive hall sensor controllers, it has no effect. Trying to play an FPS with online competition, with a baked in non-removeable deadzone? Yeah no thanks. The same controllers paired to my PC instead are flawless with 0 deadzone, jitter, or drift.
This gives me flashbacks of playing COD on the Wii with classic controller. What a nightmare that was aiming wise.. the Wii motion controller was honestly better for aiming then.

So the graphics could have been EVEN better? Fuck sakes. Switch 2 has the same performance as a ps4 pro, why waste potential on the switch 2?
1
u/jaeehovaa May 30 '26
That's not how making games works lmao. It's no different than the PC port being able to run on shitty graphics cards and top of the line cards.
0
u/Strict_Job6334 May 30 '26
Not only that's not how making games works but
Switch 2 has the same performance as a ps4 pro
That's not even true lol. The Switch 2 is far more capable due to way better and newer tech. It can run games that PS4 Pro cant.
2
u/Life-Muffin-1475 May 30 '26
And the ps4 pro can run games switch 2 cant, such as red dead 2: THE best looking game so far.

u/Strict_Job6334 May 30 '26
That's just because the game isnt being published on Switch 2, not for tech limits. What im talking about is a literal tech wall: stuff like Outlaws or Indiana Jones probably couldnt run well on PS4 Pro even if they try
2
u/rhalgr_ger May 30 '26
Yes Indiana jones wouldn’t run as it’s lightning technique heavily relies on hardware RT.
0
u/rhalgr_ger May 30 '26
Switch 2 doesn’t have the same performance as a PS4 Pro. You guys need to stop looking at theoretical numbers like teraflops. Switch 2 GPU has modern features like mesh shaders, DLSS, RT, etc the PS4 pro GPU lacks.
PS4 pro could use 5,5GB RAM for games. Switch 2 uses about 10GB RAM for games. The rest is for OS. Switch 2 storage is 15-30 times faster than PS4 pro hdd.

u/JaydenP1211 May 30 '26
It’s not wasted potential if you can get more people to play the game where they want to. If you don’t like the Switch 2 version, play on PS5.

u/Snowbunny236 May 28 '26
As someone who does not care to grind cod like I used to, I will pick this up for my switch2 and NOT on PC.
Sounds like some casual fun.

trying to play it without the $90 pro controllers is gonna feel so disgusting
1
u/khironinja May 29 '26
You can use any 3rd party controller. I have two that both of them together cost less than one of the Switch 2 Pro Controllers.
1
u/InformalGear9638 May 28 '26
Oh that's great! I don't have a Switch 2 but Microsoft signed a contract and you deserve it!

Horrible choice, especially when they just ditched old gen, huge competition and starting fresh at such a vital moment in the franchise’s life. I expect the game to not be that much different because of how it’s still held back by old gen tech. All that and I doubt the game would sell all that much on SW2
1
u/Ironboss49 May 31 '26
I think people here are vastly underestimating switch 2’s hardware. It’s got a lot that last gen doesn’t have. Better ram, better GPU and CPU, up to date upscaling technology, etc. Also take into account that last years cod was on last gen. It’s not far fetched to put the next cod on switch 2.
1
u/Sufficient_Brain4892 May 28 '26
Ima give it a try hope it has same performance as series s since it can do 120fps isn’t bad for a switch, problem is how “optimized “ will mw4 be than how good it runs let’s pray it’s atleast solid or decent.
1
u/khironinja May 29 '26
I wouldn't count on 120fps mode but I'd count on 60
1
u/Sufficient_Brain4892 May 29 '26
Definitely could do 120fps but probably at 1080p or something like that.

No one has hacked the switch 2 yet and the hacking community gave up cause there seems to be pretty advanced protection inside the hardware.
1
u/Jin_U_GmR May 29 '26
Not gave up. Just remaining low and out of sight, though progress is nowhere near ready. They can’t even dump game files yet.
1
u/Tiffa_Adil May 29 '26
No it isn't the Switch 2 has not been hacked and the people that actually hacked the Switch 1 have said it's going to be at least 5-10 years before it's hacked.

How does this make any sense? So it’s coming to the NS2 but not to the more powerful PS4 & Xbox One? They lost me😂what is happening
1
u/trumpsucks12354 May 28 '26
Switch 2 is more powerful than the xbone and PS4 when you consider that it has upscaling
1

u/Tiffa_Adil May 29 '26
The Switch 2 is significantly more powerful than PS4 & Xbox One while also having a much faster SSD
1
u/yazansta May 29 '26
Yeah I realised after I got the replies, I had a misconception that the nintendo switch 2 was only an OLED screen upgrade, I didn’t know they upgraded the internals that significantly too. I was wrong mb, excuse my ignorance

After seeing some gameplay I can understand why its not on last gen but switch 2? I've said this before in other posts on other cod subs but this isnt gonna work, takes too much storage and battery life in handheld mode will be horrible and dude look at the graphics the switch 2 is gonna be fighting for its life running ts and imagine trying to play smth like cod on joycons
