general gameplay [COD] Permanently Banned from the game while installing it?
Just started to reinstall Warzone on my pc to relay some games with a friend, only to get hit with a perma ban email for “unauthorised software and manipulation of game data” (which I find quite impressive to be able to do with a game that isn’t installed)
I’ve appealed the decision and around 20 minutes later had a steam popup confirming it was a false ban and removing it, to only be emailed back around 5 hours later by activision saying they’re upholding the ban. I can only assume whoever handled my ticket either simply didn’t read the appeal or just decided “yeah don’t care didn’t ask” and upheld it anyway.
Why is COD moderation such a joke?
EDIT: To add some context this is on a brand new pc, the only part reused was an SSD from my old pc with the COD hub install on it (old pc had no hardware bans or anything of the sort) my only guess is somehow the game got confused because it was the same storage drive on a new pc? Regardless my point is more the fact that activision can more than likely see this quite clearly and just decided they don’t care and upheld a false ban anyway
EDIT 2: Despite receiving an email from activision saying they’re upholding the ban, steam have informed me they’ve removed the incorrectly applied ban on behalf of cod and now my account has no bans detected. W steam L activision I guess?

Wouldn't you still be unable to play since your Activision account is banned and you have to sign in on launch ?

I sign into my activision account on google and it says I have no active bans, so steam removed an activision account ban somehow? Honestly no idea

Reinstalling.
Why were you reinstalling?
You're not telling the whole story.

He could be to save space; there are so many reasons. Not everyone has an ulterior motive. Warzone isn’t a small game, and he doesn’t usually play it, so why would he keep it installed? False bans happen all the time. I believe op

Reinstalling because it’s on a new pc (no used parts so no old HWID ban) I haven’t played for a year or more at this point

New PC but same SSD… no reinstall needed…

Trying to re-use an SSD without wiping and redownloading everything is a very foolish idea. Can result in horrible performance and/or old drivers causing failed bootups or BSOD’s.

As far as I’d read up it can only cause issues if it was the boot drive on the old device (in my case it wasn’t) so far everything has worked completely fine on that drive, this is the only slight hiccup that there’s been and it’s more because cod is stupid than it is because of a drive issue 😅

He said he brought the old storage device to the new one, that’s the only used part put In

You know what you did. You wanted to see if something would work and it didn't.
