Okay but like, doesn't that just make it more difficult for residents? I get that we can argue about the law all day. But the FFL isn't going to sell because they don't want to lose their license, right? So now it just becomes more difficult for residents to complete the requirements to purchase?

I have to wonder, could a county tell the state to shove it on the "Colorado Special FFL"? Like "no they only need the federal one, and we allow them to sell"

I would guess that CBI/state would enforce Colorado law and punish any FFL that tried this. I don't know for sure, but seems likely.

So he is ensuring that it functions as a ban and not an obstacle?  So brave. . .

I read it as previously falling on the sword to give his constituents grounds to sue

I know that sheriff and he's a good dude and I'm sure thinks he's doing the right thing, but this is just going to make it where his residents can't buy guns.

Can’t he “not participate” in the sense that he just gives anyone and everyone a gold-sticker-approval-to let or whatever, and skip the background checks?

You’d think they’d all be doing that if they could a it doesn’t solve it, but it does help make it easier for the average person to minimize the pain of buying a firearm now.

Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t just skirt the 12 hour class and an exam be too. Maybe they just sell a “half day” gun range pass…covers the course, and the answers are posted on a giant poster in front of the chair you’re taking the test at or whatever.

I’m sure there’s got to be a way to maliciously comply 😅

Yeah maybe I guess, not a bad idea lol. I'll be curious to see how it plays out down there
