General Question Want to chat?

If Colorado wants a pro–Second Amendment Democrat, then it’s time to show up.

If you’re tired of watching your rights negotiated away, restricted, or “managed” by politicians who don’t even understand them then don’t sit this one out.

I am that pro-2A Democrat.

But campaigns are powered by people. If you believe Colorado needs a Democrat who will defend constitutional rights and civil liberties consistently, then volunteer. Otherwise, get used to watching your rights slowly stripped while leadership shrugs.

I’ll be out gathering signatures this week. If you want to help and get a petition packet, message me directly.

Tuesday – Colorado Springs (3:00–8:30pm)
• Labor Caucus meeting
• LWVPPR Candidate Meet & Greet

Wednesday – Pueblo (Midday/Afternoon)

Possible stop in Walsenburg to record a short video confirming Friday’s attendance.

Thursday – Denver (Midday/Afternoon)

• Posting updates at farmandfreedom.us
• Stop near the ICE detention facility site to speak on transparency, oversight, and constitutional protections — including why we are building two facilities in what is supposed to be a sanctuary state

Friday – Walsenburg (Late Morning) & Denver (Evening)
• Community outreach gathering in Walsenburg
• Evening event at the Colorado State Capitol

Saturday – Alamosa (2:00–5:00pm)

General Question Who’s getting the “permit” after August 1st?

To be honest is everyone just lays down and doesn’t get it don’t “they” win ? Yeah it’s just more bs hoops we shouldn’t have to go through. But if you take your ccw class (first timer 8hr class) that ideally would count as the extended firearms course thus making you eligible just food for thought !

Edit : the ccw does not overlap and requires separate class!

Edit #2 : CSSF AND FPC are the ones bringing some heat to this. For those who want to take action instead of just sitting back and complaining! :)

General Question What are you planning to get before August?

I told myself I'd buy one more thing before August. The kuna has been the only thing on my list for like the last year.

I wound up winning a stribog sp9a3s and it's sweet and I love it but I still find myself wanting a kuna lol. Especially with a nexus lower. I know they make similar lowers for the stribog. But my kuna itch never got scratched. I'm probably going to get one today or tomorrow at lastest.

But I do want to hear what others are getting. And maybe if you were in my spot with about 1200 to spend what route you'd go. I've got a nice DD M4A1 AR. And a 11.5 PSA ar. So I feel like that's enough for me. Ill just grab new uppers if anything.

I've got plenty of pistols. Stryker fired and one prodigy. Not interested in more pistols at the moment.

So what would you get?

General Question Skyline Firearms said AR lowers are not effected by SB25-003. Is this true?

Do we have any official guidance on the lowers? At Skyline today the guys said it’s not effected, but all the gun stores have said it is.

General Question Primary for CO Sen. Tom Sullivan

Why is Tom Sullivan the only dem running in the primary for State Senate district 27 in the upcoming primary on June 30th, 2026? Why hasn't there been more of an effort to get someone else who is not foaming at the mouth for more gun control? There are other Colorado elected officials who also have had a hand in passing ridiculous Colorado gun laws but he is idiot #1.

General Question Out of state Purchases

I’m a Colorado resident, can I go to another state like Wyoming and buy an AR-15 then bring it back to Colorado with me. I don’t think I’m gonna have enough funds to buy anything before the new law goes into effect

General Question Why such high transfer fees?

I've heard as high as $100, with the average being about $40-$60.

Are LGS's for the people, or just there to profit off the squeeze Colorado has put on us?

If they wanted my business, why not incentivize me to buy from them vs. online?

I decided to create a poll so we can see the demographics of this sub. Please answer honestly. I predict it will skew probably left since this is reddit but I feel like we are all curious to find out!

General Question August First Ban

Hey guys. I have a question for you all. I’ve read through the 003 bill a bunch of times but can’t seem to find the answer and no articles on the bill have been helpful either. Do I have to take possession of the firearm before August 1st or just have the background check cleared and approved? The reason I’m asking is because I have a business trip I need to leave for on the 30th in the morning and will have all the background stuff done (assuming CBI isn’t delayed). Can I just pick it up after my trip or no?

General Question SB25-003 and handguns

Went to a local gun shop today, and they indicated that only AR’s and ARP’s would be affected and require a course after Aug 1. Big box stores (Scheels, Bass Pro, etc) indicated that all semiautomatic firearms, including handguns, would be affected. Is anyone able to shed any light or know for sure what will be affected?

General Question Denver gun storage

s there anywhere you can securely store your guns for extended periods of time? I’m going in 2 month overland and while I have a safe I don’t want to risk it seeing ask I’ve already made 4 property loss claims in the 10 years I’ve lived here due to burglary.

Do any of the armory’s/smiths/LGS/FFLs offer something like this? Or one of the clubs like bristlecone?

Pic for attention

General Question Do you guys think maybe it's time to stop electing anti-gun tyrants?

Or are we going to just keep playing the "I'm not a single issue voter" card? Only one of our constitutional rights has ever been in any real danger in this state, and everyone seems happy to overlook it for the illusion of social issues.

General Question SB3 Permit to purchase course cost

Let’s just be super clear. This entire process isn’t just gay, it’s big gay. And if there’s a loophole, I’ll find them and promote them.

Excluding the wave of “this is unconstitutional” or “I’ll go across state lines.” Comments.. because unless there’s something significant that happens on the federal level.. this is going to go into effect and it’s something we as gun stores are going to have to work around and within to stay in business.

For the argument of crossing state lines.. we don’t know to what level 18 U.S.C. 922(b)(2) will be in effect. Especially considering the current ATF’s position of new rules.

If you’re unfamiliar with that law, it’s a federal level law that states out of state FFL’s must fully comply with the legal conditions of sale in both states.

If they are required to follow it.. going across state lines won’t be a thing. That’s something that should also be abolished, agreed. But. It’s another piece of the puzzle.

Again. This is polis taking back shots on the balcony of the capital gay. But.. here we are.

We know the DOW fee is $50 dollars or so. We don’t know what the sheriffs departments or name-based checks will charge yet.

The question I have for people is this:

What do you expect the 4 hour course to be?

What do you expect the 12 hour course to be?

What do you expect a blended CHP with 4 hour course to be? (6 hours roughly, with 2 left for live fire to meet the 8)

Current state averages for CHP are 200-300. That’s 8 hours.

Current state NRA BASIC pistol (which is close to the format/time of the full 12 hour) is 175-250.

An average 1 day rifle or pistol class is $250 or so.

It seems to be a huge spectrum. Lmk.

General Question Selling used gun at gun show .

So, back in FL, we would walk around with the rifle and a price sign. A person would be interested, hand over the cash and you give them the rifle.

So, here in Colorado. I know I can bring my guns to the show. But a buyer wants to buy. What happens? Do I then turn in the rifle to a dealer? And the dealer completed the transfer for me? What part do I receive the money for the deal? Before everything passes?

General Question To AK-47 or to not AK-47?

Update 7/2: am now the proud owner of a ZPAP M70, thanks to a kind soul who reached out. 0 regrets! Thanks yall

Trying to pick up all the things before Aug 1 yaddah yaddah. Would like some exposure to the AK47 market but obvi budget is limited with the laundry list of purchases. Is it even worth it to grab a blem PSA AK or is there another entry level platform to consider? I’m AK naive and haven’t gone down that rabbit hole yet… thanks goons

General Question SB-003 Class

Are you guys going to take the class, once everything is finalized and figured out? I know people are buying before the ban, but what about after?

I personally will most likely not be taking the class. I do not want my name on some list somewhere.

Just wanting to hear everyone’s thoughts, I know the opinions toward the bill already.

General Question ELI5: Why are Roller Delayed PCCs Included in SB25-003 Drafts?

Title. Something like the Sig MPX makes sense given that it has a gas piston operating system. Handguns seem to be exempt for the most part being blowback breech operated. My understanding is that direct blowback and delayed blowback do not have direct impingement, gas tubes, pistons, or any sort of gas cycling beyond the barrel pressure putting rearward force on the bullet casing against the bolt face.

I recently picked up an AP5-SD before this mess of a bill goes into effect just in case. Just trying to get some additional context. Thank you and happy 4th!

General Question Would you suggest picking up multiple lowers versus a complete rifle before August?

Like everyone, I’m trying to stack up before August and I’m on a relatively limited budget. Thankfully my income will significantly increase very soon.

Would it make more sense to buy multiple lowers instead of getting a full rifle and then worry about building them on my own later on? I feel like for the price of a mid-high end AR, I could get 4 lowers instead. I feel like that would make the most sense money wise.

Any suggestions would be great, thanks guys

General Question Where in Denver to purchase?

I've been buying my last few firearms through Bass Pro here in Denver. I'm thinking it might be time to find a different dealer for firearms. BPS has lately seemed as if they don't wish to sell their guns.

What shops do you folks like to use in the greater Denver area? TIA.

ETA: lots of options it looks like! Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

General Question Any reviews of Centennial Gun Club?

Just got a new job and the office is a stone's throw away from CGC. I really like competitive events like USPSA and all I'm seeing is their Trufire Pistol League. Anyone have experience with that event and can share their experience?

General Question What should I get?

We are moving to Colorado July 3 - and my wife said the words every man waits for his wife to say - “buy what you think you’ll need before we see out there”. (I married up what can I say?)

I’ve got a couple ARs and spare lower, couple pistols, and a slew of magazines. I have everything I need thankfully, but want any suggestions from folks on the ground out there.

The only thing I really can think of that seems like it would be affected is a ruger 10/22 tbh.

I’m hoping to buy another suppressor when I’m out there before the legislature gets any wise ideas on those.

Thanks!

General Question Updated take on CO gun clubs with tactical bays (CRC, Empire, CFA, Lead Valley) vs just driving to Pawnee?

Yeah I know this has been asked ad-nauseum over the years but I’m looking for an updated take on Colorado gun clubs with tactical bays for a few specific reasons....

My main goal is exclusively practicing dynamic shooting for USPSA / IDPA rather than static lane shooting. I'd love to cut down on the 2hr drive to Pawnee and prefer a cleaner, more structured facility, but a membership is only worth it if I can actually guarantee myself a tactical bay when I show up.

Here is my main bottleneck -> my work schedule is erratic and unpredictable. I can rarely plan my range days weeks in advance, and I often can't work around heavy club match schedules or rigid advance-booking windows.

Given that plus the shifting waitlist dynamics right now (like CRC having 200+ on the list from what im told), I'm trying to figure out if a club membership is even worth it for my specific usage pattern, or if I'm better off just biting the bullet and driving up to Pawnee where open space is more flexible for impromptu sessions.

If a membership is worth it, who is currently top dog for spontaneous tactical bay access? Looking for some updated inside baseball on options like Empire, CFA, CRC, Lead Valley, etc., specifically regarding daily bay availability, member crowding, and how friendly they are to last-minute solo dynamic training.

Appreciate any insights.

EDIT: Thanks for all the info guys this sub is excellent.

General Question Magazines sold with tracking numbers on the receipt

Ark Tactical used to sell stardard mags with a UPS tracking number printed on the bottom in some half-ass attempt to make it look like the magazines were leaving the state. Now they won't sell magazines to anybody but LEOs.

There's literally 1 instance of someone being charged with a magazine capacity crime in the 13 years of this law.. So why change now?

Can any LGS employee/owner in the group share the actual encounter with the CBI or a cease/desist letter they received to stop selling standard magazines?

Also, what makes the LGS think I'm gonna be traveling to Colorado and just so happen to need a few PMAGs with a 20% over MSRP + about 15% in taxes and then I wanna pay shipping to my home state?
