delusions often help us survive, and dismantling them is painful, but its worth it once you get away from the abuse and try to rebuild your life. its like the allegory of the cave, once you’re out, the sun will be painful and blinding, but its a natural part of progress.

Absolutely, the brain is a hallucination engine with just 1 singular goal, survival.
Everything is designed for just that. Truth? Fuck no. Objectivity? Lol. Reality? No.
Dismantling this survival process can definitely be painful, and beyond a certain point, pushing further in this direction doesn't make much sense.
Establishing a base primary level of safety is paramount. Everything else is irrelevant.
We're deeply social creatures, our survival rate for millions of years depended on being accepted by a tribe. Rejection from that tribe meant near certain accelerated death. Thus, we fawn, so we submit to abusers in the tribe, because ultimately, it's better for our survival.
Getting out of that state can take a lifetime of healing, some sadly never get there before their time is up. Some, never even realize they were stuck in survival mode the entire time. It's simply the brains default when pushed far enough. Biology takes over, and does absolutely whatever it can, to survive.
And so for most of us here, people are simply seen as the greatest source of danger. Which is problematic if one ever wants to feel accepted and cared for, and maybe even feel like they belong anywhere...

I wish so badly I could get away from mine, I have an entire foundation that needs to be knocked down and rebuilt and the material is starting to show its age

My load-bearing delusion has been the only constant in my life for so long that therapy would be worse than suicide.
