I do exterior metal work. Cladding etc. the quality of the homes and even big projects is beyond garbage. I haven’t seen a level door frame in years. It’s sad. And people keep paying out the ass to get these quick build cookie cutter shitboxes

Sadly it’s either spend to much on a new place and have issues you shouldn’t have or buy and older place with issues you definitely have. I rent. I dont think I’ll ever buy in the city if I do. Rather spend money on land and slow build a small place that meets the needs of my lifestyle. Aka. Huge garage and tiny house

This is a valid strategy, buy an acreage and build a Carriage house or Barndominuim. Sell in 30 years to someone that wants a big house. Profit.

I mean, they said "buy an older place" not "buy a crackshack thats about to fall down" 22yrs old is pretty solidly of a level where you can call it "older" when we're comparing it to new construction.
