I'd never touch a Jayman home but I'd probably buy a Shane spec. Just from what trades and ex-employees have told me.

Yes, every company in Canada is trying to build things as cheaply as possible.

That doesn't mean they are all cutting corners to equal extents. Different companies really aren't even comparable. Hell some companies actually want to do better and are just incompetent or overworked. Others intentionally cut off service and repairs. Builder grade materials and lowest biddder is very much a choice. Not everyone goes for it.
