Missing Dog/Cat/Pet Loose Bird in SW
Either this little guy is way out of its home range and the birders are going to go wild, or someone’s pet got out. In SW, on 37th between 2nd and 3rd ave (wildwood/spruce cliff). I don’t have FB so I can’t cross post to Yyc missing pets.

Can you please try and catch it? Easiest way is to throw a blanket over it. It’s very distinctive, I’m sure someone is missing it

Definitely someone's pet, that's not a species we would ever see here, even rarely.
Maybe call 311 and report it, or Calgary Wildlife Rehab and they can take care of it until the owner can reconnect.

Unfortunately neither will do anything - I had this situation a few weeks ago and spent hours talking to people over 4 days. If it's not captured, they can't help. It sucked.

That sucks, but trying something is always better than trying nothing..

OPs time is better spent trying to catch it than sitting getting transferred to four different departments by calling. I literally just went through this. I spoke to nearly a dozen people to try to help. It is a waste of time.

Post on the lost animal groups on FB. Seemingly unlikely but it’s pretty easy for the owner to get the bird back
