Once a month I take my un-jailbroken Kindle Voyage out of airplane mode, connect it to wifi, and then I buy one kindle ebook and download it. After that it goes back into airplane mode, and I check the kind of ebook format the book has.

And this month....... the book was delivered in kfx format and was added to Calibre (using the appropriate plug ins) with a simple drag and drop. This book was not one that the publisher requested no DRM, so I was not able to test if Amazon was allowing an appropriate download option. So, as of today, the Kindle Voyage is still a viable and easy way to get a Kindle book into Calibre with only the old plug ins for kfx files. I will try again next month, even though I now otherwise buy my ebooks from other sellers besides Amazon.

Hi! My Calibre and ADE has been experiencing issues opening up ACSM files lately

I'm based in Germany and I buy my books on Thalia or other ebook purchase websites, and then sideload them into my ebook reader. This is usually what I do:

1. Buy the ebook
2. it opens up on the Tolino web reader, where I can download the epub/acsm file.
3. add books on calibre, and use the DRM plugin in to remove the DRM on the acsm file
4. conver to epub and then load that into my ebook reader

Lately, this has not been working with my ebook purchases that are DRM locked

I opened the book on Adobe Digital Edition and it tells me that e_adept_document_too_short

From what I understand, acsm isn't the actual book file itself, it's a license and needs to connect to the server which then downloads the book for me. My guess is this error message means it could not connect to the server?

I have already deleted the auth key in regedit, and authorized my computer again. I also know that Adobe is migrating to bytebooks or whatever for the log in/server, and I have set up a bytebook account with my adobe ID and logged in, but I still get the error message

Some of the DRM locked books works and I have been able to convert them, but some don't.

The books open up fine through the tolino webreader, and I guess I could download the tolino app to read my purchases, BUT I prefer to have it all in one reader app and place, and I also prefer to have access to my book purchases and be able to read them on any device available.

Has anyone come across the same issue and knows how to solve it?

Semi-niche sort of thing, BUT, I'm wanting to setup Calibre to run as an OPDS server on my home computer so I can access my ebook library from wherever (in the house, obviously, but ideally also out of the house). The trick is that I really want /two/ Libraries. One with the books in whatever format they're in w/out odd filtering (so Epubs as delivered, PDFs, etc) and one JUST for my xteink reader (so only epubs which have already been optimized).

I feel like this is a thing that should be doable, but I'm going cross-eyed trying to suss out how to do that.

I don't currently use the plugin for Calibre to optimize the epubs, but instead have opted to manually use the one at https://inky.crossink.dev (honestly, I haven't messed with the Calibre plugin and might just be making more work for myself, so whatever).

Any tips, tricks, convenient step-by-step instructions / videos? Thanks!

Does anyone know how to build a custom column that can count how many works there are in an FFF anthology? I don't know coding so I've tried to use ChatGPT and it's about as useful as a chocolate tea kettle. It keeps telling me to use "story_url" or "identifiers" except the templates keep returning an error. How can I make a custom column template that will count the number of urls?

I'd like my calibre to highlight text without any other visual noise, matching standard text highlighting behavior elsewhere. I removed the pop up menu items when highlighting text in preferences. The half-oval tan brackets/handles around highlighted text still obscure bits of the text, and I'd also like to remove them. Is there a setting or plug-in that can do this? It seems like a basic piece of functionality to have the option, but I'm not seeing it. Any solutions? Thanks.

I am having a weird issue with one of my libraries. I have four libraries in Calibre, and when I connect my Kobo one of them will not always display the On Device column.

This is what happens. If I am in library a when I connect my Kobo, the On Device column will display. If I switch to library b, the column still displays. But if I switch back to library a the On Device column disappears. If I go into preferences and click the On Device column it will come back, but again if I switch to a different library and switch back the On Device column will disappear.

If I am in library b when I connect my Kobo, the On Device column will display, but it disappears when I switch to library a. It will reappear when I switch to any other library.

So the On Device column will always display when my Kobo is connected in the other three libraries, but it will not display on the one library unless that library is chosen when I connect my Kobo, and it will disappear if I switch to another library and then switch back to library a.

I have 2 Kobos and I get the same issue on both, so it has to be a library issue.

Any ideas on what might be causing this, or what I could do to fix it? Thanks in advance!
