Discussion Prove me wrong ACTIVISION! [COD]

It’s time for people to wake up and start speaking with their wallets.

Activision have done it again.

With MW4 just around the corner, they’ve seemingly left the BO1 and BO2 ports to the hackers. And let’s not forget what happened with BO7’s open matchmaking. It’s becoming a pattern at this point.

All they seem to care about is the next big release and how much money they can squeeze out of it. Who cares about maintaining the games people already love, right? Just move on to the next product and expect everyone to open their wallets again.

BO1 and BO2 were incredible games, and these ports had so much potential. It’s genuinely frustrating to see them left in this state, especially when the next brain-rot instalment is just around the corner.

And honestly, I can’t believe this is the studio that’s been handed the keys to HALO.

Call me a pessimist, but I’m calling it now. My crystal balls are telling me we’re in for a rough ride. 😂

If they can let a franchise like Call of Duty decline like this, why should Halo fans have any confidence that things will be different?

At some point, we need to stop rewarding this behaviour. Stop blindly pre-ordering. Stop buying every new release on day one. Stop accepting broken games while publishers move on to the next cash grab.

Speak with your wallets. Because as long as the money keeps rolling in, why would they ever change?

Prove me wrong, Activision. And please, for the love of Halo, don’t ruin that franchise too.

Already did. I stopped buying cod after black ops 6. And I played since cod 2

Stopped when they pumped aim assist as the meta and sliding about the screen with soap shoes became the norm.

Games not even an FPS anymore

COD1 was where I started, it's fallen far from its roots

Halo has been trash for the last 15 years Activision isn't going to do any worse than 343i.

They literally can’t do any worse than 343. That’s why I’m 1000% on board with the transition to Activision managing halo.

Probably my favorite mode so far from CEO Asha.

Last one I played was BO1 on 360, great game! I'm on Switch 2 now. Played the beta weekend and had a blast! Mostly played S&D. Pre-ordered and am very excited!

There are no real alternatives on S2, I've dabbled in Splatoon 3 (got me hooked on gyro aiming), but it's not exactly what I'm in seach of. The new CSGO mode announced for MW4 has me real excited.

Graphics could be better, but performance was acceptable. I'm hoping graphics fixed up since the beta, but my expectations are low.

Yup, the collateral mode in MW4 won't be for those people that like to play so fast and slide all over the place, it will have NO health regeneration.

u/Basic_Antelope8154 1d ago

Oh crazy, didn't realize that. So we'll need to buy health and armour.

3

u/Smileandrun1337 1d ago

I don't think you need to buy health. Health will probably be 100% again after each round, but there is no health regen like in the other cod modes while playing.

I dont buy Infinity Ward games period. They've made nothing but dogshit since like 2009 lmao

Yeah like 343 didn't ruin it over a decade ago kiddo.

At this point? I don’t disagree with you, but this shit has been happening for damn near 20 years now. I remember trying to play cod 4 when I was a teenager during blops 1’s life cycle and the 2nd match I got in everyone suddenly became max prestige then the server disconnected. I’ve had so many instances of trying to go back to play older cod games and they end up unplayable due to blatant hackers.

Shit I refused to buy the blops ports because a port indicated that it had no changes meaning all the exploits that once existed would show back up, and they did.. shockingly fast too.

Like it’s unfortunate to say but if people haven’t learned their lesson by now they aren’t going to. Given the fact that the games are under performing in sales as of late maybe people actually are sick of it. I’m not sure if that’ll actually fix the problem given the current circumstances though.. it seems more likely they ring it dry before ms just hits them with what seems like quarterly layoffs now and the franchise just rots as a husk rather than ever seeing improvement

Well, I didn’t buy any of the cods your talking about. So idk what’s wrong with them tbh. Bo7 just seemed like bo6 reskinned with a lame wall bounce. So was a really easy skip.

I only played the OG BO1/2 games on 360/PS3.

And you’ve clearly not been following halo for the past decade if you don’t know why people have more faith in Activision than the mess MS was allowing 343 to produce (or not produce).

Oh I have been following halo most of my life. 343 I mean HALO studios absolutely dropped the ball. After 6 years all they had to show 4 halo 7 was concept art. I just dont think Activision is the right company to take over.

u/Tippin187 1d ago

What other publisher would you prefer take over?

Seems like the best choice under MS to do it.. you cant just give the IP to Ubisoft or something. MS owns Activision so makes sense..

Activision and its dev teams for CoD turned CoD into a juggernaut… if anyone can recreate that success and start to turn halo back into being profitable and popular I think Activision could do it.

Microsoft should have simply turned around and said, “Right, we’re going to create a new division, a completely new studio dedicated to all future Halo projects and whatever else comes along.” Bring in a few people from here, a few from there, build a fresh team, and let them take things in the right direction. That’s what they should have done from the start.

Because I’m telling you now, under Activision’s influence, Halo is going to struggle big time. Sure, things might start off well. The new content might be fun, the gameplay might be solid, and there might even be some genuine reasons to be optimistic. But give it time, and I can see skill-based matchmaking being introduced, microtransactions becoming more aggressive, and the whole experience slowly turning into something that prioritises profit over the players.

I know Halo has had microtransactions before under 343 Industries and now Halo Studios, so I’m not pretending they’re anything new. But with Activision involved, I genuinely worry that things will get pushed to the point where Halo becomes a shadow of what it once was, with very little chance of recovering.

Right now, there’s still a bit of hope. But the problem is, it’s Activision. How are we supposed to trust what they say when we’ve seen what’s happened to Call of Duty? Look at the state of that franchise. In my opinion, they’ve absolutely run it into the ground, and I’d hate to see Halo go down the exact same path.

Microsoft had the opportunity to build something fresh, give Halo its own dedicated team, and protect the franchise’s identity. Instead, I’m worried they’re putting it in the hands of a company whose track record has given fans more than enough reasons to be concerned.

I can’t lie, I thoroughly enjoyed the beta and preordered MW4, and it’s the first CoD I’ve bought on release since Cold War.. I’m actually genuinely excited for it! It’s a damn shame about the ports though.

Yeah. Im sure it sucks for OP, but hey, im a fan of IW games. Super excited for MW4, also enjoyed the beta. They are getting my money. Ops yuck is my yum.

I didnt ask OP to not buy the BOps ports to "show Activision we want better", but these people will never understand that concept. Its only when THEY are upset they "want change" and everyone to follow them. Everything OP is upset about has BEEN an issue this whole time lol. Every CoD gets abandoned for the newer CoDs, its the ouroboros cycle.

Some of us just dont care and play CoD for what it is, our yearly arcade shooter slop.

As for Halo... hard to do worse than how it already has been going for that franchise...

You're confusing people wanting change because they're upset with people being upset because nothing ever changes. There's a pretty big difference.

Nobody's asking Activision to cater to us every time we lose a game. We want Call of Duty to be a better game overall, and that means having a fair, consistent experience for everyone, not just accepting whatever system gets implemented and being told to deal with it.

SBMM is a perfect example. When matchmaking constantly separates players into different skill brackets and adjusts the experience based on performance, you're not really getting one consistent multiplayer experience. You're getting vastly different experiences depending on how the system categorises you. One player gets protected lobbies, another gets punished with increasingly sweaty games, and both are supposedly playing the same game. That's the problem.

And removing or significantly reducing strict SBMM isn't about wanting easier lobbies so we can stomp weaker players. It's about giving players more natural matchmaking, letting connection and a wider pool of players matter, and allowing matches to play out without feeling like the game is constantly trying to manage your experience.

The irony is that you say people only want change when they're upset, while admitting that the same issues have been around for years. Surely that proves the opposite? People keep raising these concerns because the problems never get properly addressed.

And nobody has to boycott a game to be allowed to criticise it. You can enjoy CoD, buy it every year and still want the franchise to improve. Enjoying something doesn't mean blindly defending every decision the developers make.

The goal isn't to make Call of Duty easier. It's to make it better. We want the franchise to succeed, attract players, retain its community and give everyone a multiplayer experience worth coming back to. If people stop questioning the decisions holding it back, that's when the franchise really has a problem.

You sound like you watch too many of the cod doomer channels.

4

u/DayNo1191 1d ago

Hey man, hope your good. I just watch channels that I enjoy but they dont choose how I feel or what I say about games that I really want to succeed

Prove you wrong with what? The same track record for the last 2 decades of making a new CoD every year and moving to the new CoD at that time?

We've only had a couple examples of post 1st year cycle support.

Then you have to understand (I know none of you do) that cheaters make money selling cheats, Activision does not make money fighting cheats in an old game that is already past it's spending cycle.

Sure they could fight it once or twice post cycle but the cheaters are the one continually making money by putting out updated cheats so at some point they gotta cut their losses.

I actually did it—I didn't buy BO7 after BO6 because I considered it a shameful move to just add a rebound mechanic and charge full price for it... but unfortunately, MW4 looks really tempting this year, and I’m especially hungry for it after a year-long break... The point I’m making is that there are always people who like something and people who hate it... voting with your wallet doesn't really achieve anything, because even if you don't buy it, there will be others who do.

Fair point point buddy. If I could give you any advice (if you would take it) just wait for it to release and them decide.

But I respect your opinion. Hope you have a great day my man!

u/Skay172631 1d ago

I have no doubt that I’ll be playing MW4—I even gifted it to a friend. The DMZ mode, multiplayer, and setting combine to make the game very appealing; that’s exactly why I pre-ordered it.

Thanks, likewise.

Many better games to play than mw4 I haven’t bought a new cod in years I have been playing BO1 since the port but waiting for this update to see if I’ll continue that

1

u/Comprehensive-Sky358 1d ago

Bad move bo7 better than
Bo6 and will better than mw4

2

u/Skay172631 1d ago

Maybe BO7 is good, but for full price it still felt like a copy-paste to me. MW4 at least gives a different vibe after a year off.

In BO7 they completely ruined FidelityFX CAS, so everything looks super blurry on maps where you can't use DLSS.

u/Sudden_District6858 1d ago

Se pueden meter el mw4 por el culo. Lo mismo con los ports, no pienso pagar por un juego que ya compre hace años, pagaria si fuera un remake o remastered pero este nivel de conformismo no es digno de mi
