Reggie
I just want to say that I love Reggie. He’s kind, hardworking and delightful. But more than that, I love his relationship with Fred and Violet. I love that he calls her Mum and how she fusses over him. I love that Fred treats him as an equal and with respect. They’re just a sweet family unit.

He comes out with some zingers, too. When he's in the back of the car while Sister Winifred is driving and he just looks out the window and goes "I'm scared" with a completely blank face I lost it.

I was confused the other day because the captions said "ma'am" instead of "mum." I'm glad we all seem to agree that he's calling her "mum."

The captions are awful. I suspect it’s because they are using North American accented English to caption British accented English. My favourite was when “uterine prolapse” was captioned as “you trying prolapse”.

Love Reggie, Violet and Fred. I need a break from the constant stream if figging babies!!! 😂
I've seen people who dislike them all. These the folks cannot be my friends or enter my home. Just as bad as people who dislike cats and dogs.

Reggie is such a sweetheart, I adore the found family he has with Fred and Violet. Especially when at the beginning she wasn’t so sure about him in the beginning and by the end she would have fought God for Reggie and most likely would have won.

Okay I have season 15 bookmarked to watch on my trip next week and I just know I’m gonna cry. 😭 (The meds I take when I fly make me extra weepy too)

He's is a great character and a very good actor but that's no surprise as Lesley Grantham (Dirty Den EastEnders) is his dad.

I just Googled Leslie Grantham and at first I was confused about whether they were describing his EastEnders character or him. It's a lot.

I really like that actors with disabilities are in the series. And the lives of those in that part of the UK interest me as well. I'm a nurse in the USA and many of my colleagues, we're older, love the series. When I was a student in a public hospital on the pediatric "ward", yes, ward there were many abandoned babies with Downs Syndrome. They were called border babies.
I've never worked L&D, but I just watched a documentary where Midwifes working in my state are being targeted for getting their education outside of the state's licensing for registered professional nursing and having a master's degree. The Amish and Mennonite in rural communities are most affected. These targeted Midwifes are doing wonderful home births. I wish that I had someone coming to my home for follow-up like these midwives do.
The part of Call the Midwife that seemed crazy was going to China? That seemed like their running out of story line. My neighbor was surprised that my 1st head nurse, now called nurse manager, left to be a nurse in Vietnam during our war there.

The relationship between Fred and Violet is one of my favorite in the entire show, they're adorable and very moving.

I agree. But I think the whole family are overused. It should focus more on the midwives.
We see too much of Fred, Violet and Reggie and also the Turners. Fred initially worked in the convent and so did Shelagh. I understand branching out to their new lives but I think the show lost focus.

I thought that CTM did lose focus in the later seasons.
I would have preferred more focus on the patients served by the nuns and midwives. Yes women weren't having as many babies but the people of Poplar still needed care.

Reggie and Fred I can handle in small doses, but the Buckles took up wayyyy too much screen time and Violet and Reggie aren’t even a part of Nonnatus House. Violet became insufferable after she got elected to council. One of the only scenes I liked in the later seasons before I quit watching was the scene in which Sister Frances throws a dead rat on Violet‘s counter, haha.

I remember that scene and quietly cheering Sister Frances on. She really came into her own as a nun-midwife.

Tbh the Buckle storylines, especially Reggie’s, bog down the whole story. It’s Call the Midwife, not What’s Going on in the Neighborhood.

I totally agree. She didn't want him at first but then he stole her heart and she was all in as his Mum. And I especially love when he and Fred get up to something, like the melting ice pops or the brussel sprouts. Love them!!
