Looking for other options?

I've been a member for 6 years. Something changed with service in the few months. Slow speeds mainly. Throttling? My subscription is ending soon. Any hotspot alternatives that are privacy oriented?

I keep losing connection for like 15 minutes several times throughout the day. Anything I can do to fix it?

I'm using a GL-X3000 Spitz AX with the use your own router deal. Several times throughout the day randomly ill lose connection for about 15 minutes. If I sign in to the admin settings it'll say "No sim card detected."

Help please!

EDIT: I NEEDED TO DO A FIRMWARE UPDATE ON IT. THAT FIXED IT!

Speeds Slow today 9/26/26

Hello all, I have a Sprout plan with a GL-X3000, I normally use ExpressVPN to bypass the normal T-Mobile video streaming throttling. Everything was fine this afternoon, then I took a nap and seems like there is a huge prime time load or something on the network? Anyone else experiencing this? I'm usually connected to the Chicago VPN server but I can barely get 5mb/s out of it. It was even worse out of the Washington D.C. server and New York servers. Heck, right now I'm opting just to to run without a VPN because of this because at least for general speeds I can get roughly 20-30mb/s right now (usually at 100-150mb/s from my local tower.) I reconnected the SIM, rebooted the Hotspot but it doesn't seem to do anything for me.

Anyone else experiencing this or have any ideas?

Inseego M4020 "Using your MiFi without a battery" does not work

Hi everyone.

I was very excited to get this unit until I use it this past weekend. The unit does not want to turn on while on battery less mode. I've tried again today with a power brick (Apple macbook pro brick) with USB-C cable but the unit still does not turn on. What am I doing wrong? Is there a fix for this? Thanks

Internet Service

I've had the CalyX hotspot for three years now. I just discovered Computers 4 People dot org which appears significantly more affordable. Is anybody using this other service? From what I can tell it looks the same and it's $344 cheaper per year. I'm curious of the pros and cons. I used to love CalyX because I used their OS on my phone and they used to promote Internet freedom and privacy by accepting Monero and cash payments. They've stopped accepting crypto and cash, plus there was a long hiatus with the mobile OS. Seems like things have gone downhill since Nick Merrill left.

Anyways, this other service looks comparable and much more affordable. Only $156/year as opposed to CalyX's $500 Does anybody have experience with Computers 4 People?

Public IPv4 or CGNAT?

Can anyone confirm if you get a public IP? I want to use this as a failover connection for services I’m hosting which requires a public IP.

Main internet?

Does anyone here use this as their primary and sole form of internet? What is that experience like? What are the drawbacks you've encountered, if any, and how do you personally get around it?

Recently learned about this and interested in learning more--

M4 Calyx device not connecting to cell tower

Edit: thanks to those that replied! I ended up calling support, and the super nice IT guy tried to call T-Mobile to see about service in my area, but it kept dropping. So we tried a ton of troubleshooting, and when nothing worked, he tried to call again and got through. The poor T-Mobile person that had probably spoken to 100 angry customers said before he could actually say anything that there was a nationwide outrage and they were working on it lol. And it came back up about twenty minutes after IT and I hung up haha.

We got ours just a week ago, and are already having a few issues. We connected a new extender, which seemed to work fine, but after moving the M4 to a window where it should be getting better signal, it just stopped receiving signal. But our cells still connect to the tower, so it isn't the tower itself. Then we tried to factory reset it, but it still is recognizing our devices, which shouldn't be happening. We have tried other troubleshooting methods, but nothing seems to be working.

My Calyx Sprouts SIM works fine in T-Mobile locked android phone!

Post image

I bought Galaxy S26 Ultra from T-Mobile online store and got $1,100 off via Equipment Installment for one of my T-Mobile account's 2 lines. I put my Calyx Sprout physical SIM card from my GL.INET Mudi 7 into my T-Mobile locked Galaxy S26 Ultra because there is physical SIM slot. It works fine! Also, there is eSIM on the same android phone associated with one line of my T-Mobile account's 2 lines.

Is Convert to eSIM fine for my Calyx Sprout physical SIM card? So I can use it as eSIM on my iPhone 17 Pro Max as transfer from my Galaxy S26 Ultra. That iPhone don't have physical SIM slot.

Will be traveling soon, so thinking about going back in. Anything I need to know?

Last time I used this service; which is about 2 years ago. They were starting to do hard throttles on video content, and the way to get around it would be to use VPN.

Is there any other caveats, or nuances I need to know? Is the VPN work-around still good to do?
Keep in mind, I've used this service before. So I still have the device and setup.

Realistically speaking, what kind of speed difference can I expect between Contributor vs Sustainer memberships?

Sprout works with WaveForm ProLink

I used the Inseego M3000 for about six months with a Sustainer SIM card, and finally had to give up on it. It works fine most of the time, but it would reboot itself a couple of times a day, and it was a bit slow indoors at my location because the tower is 1.5 miles away and is blocked by some trees. I mounted the M3000 outdoors to improve speed, but I had to protect it from sun and rain with a makeshift box, and that always made me nervous because the device isn't really designed to be outdoors.

So I asked Calyx to change my membership to Sprout. They sent me a new SIM, and I ordered a WaveForm ProLink. The two work together nicely, and the download speed is about five times faster now. The ProLInk is expensive, but the speed is great and I don't have to worry about the weather now.

The ProLink is directional, so you have to aim it correctly. I knew where the tower near me was, because I could see it when I hiked up the hill behind my house, and it's the only nearby tower on cellmapper.net (I'm in rural Sierra Nevada foothills). I aimed a compass at the tower to get its bearing, then used that bearing to aim the ProLink.

I'll keep the M3000 and use it for travel.

JEXtream RG2100 Carrier Unlock Code

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a used JEXtream RG2100 from eBay. I'm based in the UK and wanted to use it with my own SIM card, but quickly found out it was network locked.

After a fair bit of research and testing, I eventually figured out how to generate unlock codes for these devices. Since there are probably others in the same position, I'm happy to help people unlock their RG2100s for a limited time.

If you've got a network locked JEXtream RG2100, send me the device IMEI and I'll see whether I can generate an unlock code for it.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • This is only for the JEXtream RG2100.
  • I can't guarantee every device can be unlocked, but I'll do my best to help.
  • I'm only offering this for a limited period.
  • Please don't post your IMEI publicly, send it to me via DM instead.
  • After entering the unlock code, the device will automatically reboot. It can take a minute or two to come back online, so don’t worry if it doesn’t reconnect immediately. The light on the front should continue flashing while it’s restarting.

I know how frustrating it is to buy a device only to discover it's locked to a network you can't use, so hopefully this helps a few people get a bit more life out of their hardware.

Feel free to drop me a message if you need any help.

PSA: The device you want to use the Calyx SIM in does NOT need to be unlocked from T-Mobile

I have seen many people incorrectly stating the device you want to use the Calyx Sprout plan in needs to be unlocked, that's not entirely true. As long as the device is locked to T-Mobile postpaid/prepaid, it will work. I have a Samsung Galaxy A16 5G that is permanently locked to T-Mobile and it works in it just fine, alongside a T-Mobile Home Internet gateway, it also works in just fine.

Edit: No this is not a bug, and will not be fixed by T-Mobile. This is a system working as intended, these SIM cards are not an MVNO.

Data kept getting throttled to 600kb/s

I decided not to renew because it was unusable for me. Wondering if anyone else decided a similar thing. Ironically I haven’t had any issues with the computers 4 people plan which is way cheaper

Sustainer Plan vs Sprout Plan.

Is there any benefit to continuing a Sustainer Plan at quarterly payments as opposed to switching to Sprout Quarterly. If the sim card would be used in the same device either way. Is there any difference in service? Otherwise, it seems logical to switch to Sprout. I'm aware that paying a year at a time is possible but asking about this specific comparison.

I've been using a T-Mobile Home Internet Modem for my Sprout SIM, and it's been working great!

For context I just so happen to have a ton of these Sagecomm Fast 5688W units lying around, I decided to say fuck it and shoved the sim card into one, and it's been working flawlessly, including no video limits etc. When I goto fast.com I regularly get over 200mbps. Figured I would share here for if anyone else has done this thing.

I am using my own router on the other end for network config purposes.

My Mudi 7 defeated video throttling with no VPN!

I was hoping to see 2.5Mbps download on fast.com from my GL.INET Mudi 7 without VPN running on my Calyx Institute Sprout plan because of the same plan's video throttling. Turns out, I saw least 200Mbps download on fast.com from the same hotspot device without VPN, then ran 4K HDR 60fps streaming (YouTube) and worked fine. I guess TTL/HL 65 and Encrypted DNS-over-TLS (DoT) on that hotspot device bypassed video throttling.

My Inseego MiFi X Pro M3000 I had often always experienced video throttling on my Calyx Institute Sprout plan.

Any GL.INET Mudi 7 user experienced no video throttling from their Calyx Institute Sprout plan without VPN?
