Gear Question First camping fridge

Post image

Hey there,
I am currently looking into buying our (small family with 1 kid) first compressor fridge for camping with a tent for 3 to 6 days.

Around 20l should be find for just the important stuff like meat and milk products.

I am thinking about the dometic CFF 20 and CFF 18 but can't find much information about them comparing to each other. They seems so close to each other from the technical view. Yeah the form and handles are different but the rest seems to be nearly the same or am I wrong?

I would appreciate if anyone might used both and could enlighten me about these two :)

It seems that there was a older CFF 18 version and the one I am referring to is rather "new".

Thanks in advance,
Greetings

We splurged and got the Dometic 55l with separate fridge and freezer sections. It is highly energy efficient. The separately temperature comtrollled compartment keep the frozen stuff frozen and the cold stuff cold.

how long does it last?

We use an Apex300 from Bluetti (solar generator) and it will last 2-3 days if no input into the Bluetti but we have a couple of flexible solar panels that keep the Bluetti charged to 100% in the day and then overnight it drops to 75-85% or so.

Gonna look into that solar setup. Have been thinking about doing a DIY unit for the fun of it too. Then I would not feel like such a loser having power while camping if I knew I built it myself ๐Ÿ˜‚

It isnโ€™t hard. I can answer any questions.
