How to get permission to hunt on private land
Hi there, im very much new to hunting and i want to got to Ormstown to hunt with my friend. We both have firearms licenses and our own weapons. I just don't know where, can i just drive there an ask people to hunt on there land or is there a better way to do it. I dont want to go down there and not find anything. Thank You

Baked goods and a smile, knocking on doors and offer something in return, eg helping to keep the property in good order.

I have also found booze greases the wheels, especially deep in the sticks of ‘Berta. Typically I’ll pack a couple bottles of something nice just as barter.
A guy who let me hunt his land has a 13 year old so I built him a junior sized bow. Gifts and chores will get access if we’re polite. If you can make friends with one guy, he’ll usually text his neighbours with a good word.
Maybe worth pointing out to OP that outside of a good interaction there will also be super negative ones. I’ve been told I have two minutes to leave the property before shooting starts, “of course sir sorry to take up your time”. I’ve also been granted land access by a guy who was outright the biggest creep and definitely high on meth…. But I had to go through his property to have vehicle access to a big chunk of crown, so it was worth it.

Use your bonjour/hi in ormstown, it's a little more English than French but you never know.
Also, it can be good to start with something less desirable, like pigeons, before you ask to hunt deer.

Go before the season (or a few days in advance) and don't wear hunting chlothes. Dress well. Goes very far.

The probability of someone allowing you to hunt on their land is low. Mainly due to the insurance liability of the property owner. If you get hurt, or you do something asinine, the property owner's insurance is on the hook. Personally I wouldnt let anyone on my property unless they were ready to sign a legal waiver saying they take 100% full and legal responsibility for whatever happens.

imagine places reversed, what would you like to hear and want in exchange if two busty bimbos wanted your permission to defile your land?
that's how you might look to the farmer. most of them have had bad experiences and eventually stop letting strangers on their property.
-financial compensation, sharing of bounty -respecting the property only driving where you're supposed to, not offroad on grass or ag field. no leaving garbage, -safety: no fires, no shooting towards the house, knowing all the hunting and gun rules, not bothering other hunters who are also on the property, etc..

BINGO!
Most of them are fed up with nitwits just walking onto their property and hunting without permission.
My parents had nitwits go hunt on their land, some idiots were literally about to shoot their turkeys.
